I accept. Our team doesn't have the cap space to sign Gortat and are clearly rebuilding. This trade gives us a piece for the future in the pick while not having to sacrifice a young asset. Although the pick seems destined to land in the high 20s it's better than losing Gortat for nothing.

Not really a risk move now more like 3-4 years down road which is LONG TIME away and lots of things could happen between now and then.
I get a very solid big-man who has been posting excellent numbers for NOP and can provide additional punch on offense to compliment Randolph and take pressure off Randolph and the guards (Dragic/Kobe).
If he does the job for me I can resign him, and if he fails to do the job for me I now have a desirable trade asset which some teams may want.
