The Hornets Nest
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the second edition of The Hornets Nest! Many transactions have happened since our last edition so lets get underway!
TO THE MOON?
In our last issue, we spoke of speculation that Jackie Moon would be introduced as the new General Manager of the New Orleans Hornets. Exactly that happened and this column itself could not be more thrilled. Ticket sales sky rocketed since the arrival of the ABA great and the outlook from fans have been optimistic.
"Its great to have someone that wants to make change. Once Chris Paul left, this team lost all hope. Many of the fans gave up before the season even began. Jackie Moon is the type of guy to come in and make things exciting. He'll make people want to be a Hornet" Said one unknown league source.
With the promise of improvement to come and the following moves that took place after said promise, can we expect the Hornets back into the playoffs in the near future?
FEAR THE...........BEARD?
Word around the league was that minutes after Jackie Moon was introduced as the GM of the Hornets, he was already on the phone with teams about potential trades. In a matter of minutes, Jarret Jack and Eric Gordon were no longer a part of the team. In a trade that confused some, they were sent to Toronto for Demar Derozan, Mike Conley and a 1st round pick. Many fans were outraged that Gordon had brought them such a little return. The majority of the fanbase questioned where Jackie was fit for the NBA, others bashed him over social media sites. Then something amazing happened. Less than a day after the intial trade, a follow up trade was made between New Orleans and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Just like THAT Jackie was able to turn Derozan into James Harden.
"People can doubt me all they want, but this is exactly what God has in store for me. I will wheel and deal until this team is exciting. Money isnt the issue here, putting on a show is. James Harden is one of the most entertaining players in the league." Jackie Moon said following an interview with ESPN.
Will this team be able to turn their season around with the pieces they have added or is the hole too deep to climb out of? We will just have to wait and see.
Well there you have it folks! Be sure to tune in next time for the article that follows your team and brings you inside coverage on the events that matter. This has been The Hornets Nest!
