Current Rating: 77
Well, not playing in the NBA this year, did he officially retire? His last two seasons he put up about 10-11 points, 2-3 assists, 2 rebounds...FG% settled in around 41-43% his last few years...he's very simply not a 77 especially when he's not even in the NBA anymore.
Suggested Rating: 72

I agree with you Billy, if I knew if he was retired I'd put him at a 65 personally. He is apparently (from the minimal research I just did) still willing to play in the NBA, but no one is willing to give him a job.
Should probably just take him down to a 68-70 and if he ever does come back, try to be quick to boost him back up if he actually makes an impact. Chances seem slim though.

B/C 77 is a starter while he's actually not even a 12th or 15th man in the NBA anymore.
It makes the game put out ridiculous stats for guys who shouldn't be playing at all or only 10 mpg.

72 buoyed by good 3pt shooting (I fail to believe he couldn't make an open 3.)

I think we should make him no lower than a 75 because he has been a 6th man for Dallas this whole year....at least he can still help out.

Rip Hamilton is not in the NBA. Vlade, these ratings are based on Real Life not Sim leagues, you know better :-p
Mavs' choice to rely on a player not even in the NBA and coming off of a couple mediocre seasons.

I wouldn't be against this if we actually consistently dropped players' ratings the second they retire.
We had Bell at 78 even though he left the league a year earlier, Arenas as an 80 in the same situation as he left the league, Baron Davis was pretty much dead - you should know Walt, he was your guy - he left the league an 80. (Leaving the league in the cases above should be read as - removed from D5)
I'm just going to say that when Hamilton last played, he posted averages of 9/2/2 in about 20 minutes - and though i'm not a particular fan of the stat, his per/36'es aren't far off from what he's posting here. I'd understand if he were taken off the roster next year, but a drop just feels unfair considering our track record.

All I'd say Danny is that old mistakes shouldn't force us to continue making the same mistakes. We should lower players like Raja and Baron and Arenas and Rip much quicker. This is an attempt to make the league better, nothing more nothing less.
9/2/2 in 20 minutes does not equal 77 btw. His FG% was at 41-43% in his last couple years also. That's not good.
72 with a good 3pt shot feels about right. There is no possible way he is a 75 or higher.

Yes if this was done before the season or after the season. Our teams are where they are because of who they are now. We go fucking up the ratings the whole season outcome could change. It's like playing this whole season up to this point for nothing. Not only that Ian can only do some at a time right now. Wouldn't it be smart to give him time when we have a break in between leagues and the off season. GMs have made moves up to this point off of the current ratings and what their team has done so far. How many GMs quit when their team is in playoff contention just to see their team fail after rating changes midseason. I just think it's a huge mistake. I can't be the only gm feeling this way. Speak up and be men guys. It's speak up now or don't cry later.

JR that is how the league is set up. Ian makes changes whenever he can, in season or out. If you don't like that, complain to him or leave.
Personally, I'd do a ton of changes in the offseason and then a few major/obvious ones in season, maybe around the all-star break. BUT, I do realize that requires a lot of time for Ian at those times of the year so I get why he does them continuously.
Again, don't pay for a rating, pay for the actual player and who he is IRL.

B/C we are trying to make the game more realistic. A guy who can't get a job with a real NBA team should not be a fringe-starter in our league. Period.
