I believe he needs an increase to the 79-80 range.

Afflalo is having a career year. He can pass and score and doesn't play defense, so he's essentially short Carmelo.

Afflalo used to have a reputation as a good defender when he was in Denver. Has that really changed? He doesn't get a ton of steals or anything but that doesn't mean he doesn't play solid defense.
I'd put him around an 81.

His defense probably suffers because he caries the offensive load so much. Plus it's not like there is much reason for him to try on defense when you consider how tanktastic that roster has been this year.

He's become a surprisingly good shooter. 10th in the league in 3p% this year.

Defense is a harder thing to quantify with statistics (guys can get steals and blocks by playing poor defense, and you can play good defense and not get steals or blocks), so I was more just curious why you say his defense is bad/struggling?
It is certainly possible he is focusing more on scoring but again, just curious.

Honestly I just checked the dRtg on basketball reference because that stat is probably best a quantifying defensive contribution without weighting turnovers too heavily. For example Dion Waiters has the same dRtg as Afflalo but he forces more turnovers and he's just about a below average defender to good defender depending on how much effort he's putting into it on a given night. The only important thing to remember is that team defense also plays big into that particular stat (In my opinion) which explains why Afflalos dRtg was so good when he was with DET when he was playing fewer minutes. Given that Cleveland and Orlando both lack rim protectors I think it's fair to compare the defense of Waiters and Afflalo with Afflalo being slightly better because he doesn't play against team's second units as Waiters does. So I feel like he's an average defender and not a minus or plus.

I don't know about premier, but I think his defense is respectable. Vaughn is making good use of him on the offense, I'd bite on 81.

I guess those video tapes of Jordan and Kobe really helped him on offense. I'll also go with 81.

Like Evan Turner, he's only putting up good numbers because of the team he's on, although the 3PT% is impressive.
I mean, by this logic, since Kendall Marshall is currently averaging a double-double he should be in the 80s too. Obviously he's not at that level.
I don't feel as if he needs to move, he should stay at a 76.

I think it should be noted that he's putting up career numbers despite being the sole person that opposing D's key in on to beat them. Then again Mathew Dellavedova pretty much destroy Afflalo in like his 4th NBA game ever as an undrafted rookie so that kind of says something too. Lets see if he gets traded and keeps putting up numbers.

Marshall has played, what, 15 good NBA games? Not the same Ian, don't overreact :-p

www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/afflaar01.htmlThe stats speak for themselves. This is not a fluke. He improves every year. His fg% has dipped (being the main guy on shitlando) , and it's still at a respectable 46%. 19pts 4rbds 4asts. There is something to be said about players putting up good stats on bad teams. In Afflalo's case, the increased load and therefore defensive pressure on him cancels out this idea. Because he's doing it at great averages - and the numbers are in line with the increase in stats we've seen in him every year in the league. It's been a steady climb upward, but let that black boy fly. I say 83.

80. His number are probably inflated some but he's been better than a 76 for years imo. He's at like that great 6th man/decent starter level right now.

So...again we should boost Afflalo if we haven't already.
76 79.5 80 81 81 81 81
83
Averages out to an 80.58. I'd say that combined with the huge outlier of a 76 (brings the avg down, otherwise we would have eliminated the 79.5 and the avg would have been even higher) and the frequency of the 81 rating here, means Afflalo should be an 81.
