Wizards Trade:
70 Greg Oden- $5,000,000 - $5,500,000
Spurs Trade:
69 Hasheem Thabeet $3,000,000 $3,300,000 $3,600,000 $3,900,000 $4,000,000 70 Elliot Williams $1,442,880 $2,373,538 $3,436,882
The Spurs understand Oden has a player option but we are doing this trade for him to become the Spurs starting and future Center. We will keep him around as long as he is in the league and produces. We are very excited. Others may say fail but we see success and a steal.
Isaiah Thomas -- Beasley Koufos Oden

I accept, After drafting Len and Olynyk, with Meyers Leonard still on the team as well, we have plenty of options at Center going forward. Although we receive another center in Thabeet in this trade, I still feel Thabeet has a lot of potential as a prospect and am comfortable having him sit the bench on his cheap contract with the hope he eventually becomes a solid back-up.
My hope is to play Olynyk and Len at the 4 and 5 spot and hope that one of either Leonard or Thabeet turns out to be a really good back-up. This upcoming season will be more about player development, so I am not worried for the time being about being overloaded with Centers. I will also over the next few days consider whether or not to pick up the option on Elliot Williams.

I'm not sure why Washington wants Thabeet over Oden. He's a total bust while Oden actually played fairly well, he's just made of glass. Even if Oden never gets it together, which seems likely at the moment, this is still a good deal for the Spurs since he'll open up some salary after next season.

Really should have things like team options and player options noted.
I don't generally vote until they are in there :-)

Even if Oden never gets it together, which seems likely at the moment, this is still a good deal for the Spurs since he'll open up some salary after next season. Accept Even if Oden had a breakout season this year, I still have plenty of young Centers on my team that are less of an injury risk and on rookie contracts. If Oden did happen to amaze everyone, stay healthy, and show he still has some of the talent that made him a number 1 overall pick, he would most likely demand a lot of money in free agency next year and it wouldn't be worth me resigning him considering the Centers I already have on cheaper contracts. My goal is too acquire as much young talent on cheap contracts as possible and hope some of them become solid contributors. If not they are easy to get rid of because of their small contracts. Basically, I knew Oden didn't have a future with my team so I traded him with the hope that Thabeet has a decent season and exceeds his value giving me more options to either trade him or fit him into my rotation.

Wizards need to cut one player for this deal to go through.
