A couple quick hitters for you so far today.
Birdman to Fly West?
I have from very good sources that the Sacramento Kings and the Orlando Magic have agreed in principle to a deal that would ship backup big man Chris "Birdman" Anderson to the Kings in exchange for a package of draft picks. The Kings currently only have 5 players on their roster and this move could help fill some gaps they currently have on their front line.
Now this next part comes from reliable sources close to Kings GM Vlade Divac, couldn't make this type of stuff up even if I wanted to. Apparently, aside from the things that Anderson can contribute on the court, the Kings seem to be possibly more interested in what he can contribute off the court.
My sources tell me that Vlade Divac has begun planning a Sacramento Kings "Harlem Shake" video and loves what the Birdman can bring to the table in that regard. Sources tell me Anderson's performance in the Miami Heat "Harlem Shake" video might have more to do with the Kings trying to acquire his services than you might think. Can't make this stuff up. More to come on this possible trade soon.
Several Teams Targeting Top Free Agents
With free agency officially set to begin in just about a little over a week, several teams around the league have already begun to prepare for the chaos that could be this year's free agency. With a controversial team option situation that will allow several teams in the league more cap space than they actually have, this year's free agency could be one of the more exciting/frustrating free agencies for GMs and fans in recent memory.
The following teams all have at least $20+ million dollars in cap space, which would be enough to offer a max contract to one of the free agent headliners Chris Paul, Deron Williams, or Dwight Howard.
Boston Celtics
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Dallas Mavericks
Denver Nuggets
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
New York Knicks
Philadelphia 76'ers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings
Toronto Raptors
Washington Wizards
And the following teams have between $12-15 million dollars in cap space, which could still potentially net a big name free agent.
Charlotte Bobcats
Oklahoma City Thunder
Utah Jazz
This is one of the overall deeper free agencies in recent years and we will have to wait to see how things play out, but I predict this off season could see some serious shake ups around the league in more ways than one.
