I've got a few interesting rumors for you guys that have been floated across my desk. As always, I ask any GMs or Front Office personnel around the league to keep PM'ing me with your rumors. Well, let's get started.
The rebuild of the Boston Celtics appears to be fully underway with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierece already out the door on their way to Cleveland in a deal centered around the Draft Rights to rookie wing Ben McLemore and a future 1st rounder.
Word is that Ray Allen and Brandon Bass could be the next to leave the Celts. Several teams are rumored to be interested in acquiring the aging sharp shooter Allen, but my sources say the Dallas Mavericks could be the front runners here. If this ends up happening look for the Mavs to potentially ship Evan Turner and a package of draft picks and expiring contracts for both Allen and Bass.
Dallas GM Danny Longley was not available for comment.
Staying in the Atlantic division the Toronto Raptors are gearing up for a run at some potential big name free agents in this upcoming free agency period. Priority #1 for the Raps is to resign big man Roy Hibbert who will be a free agent. Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo is very optimistic that he can keep Roy north of the border.
With Rudy Gay, Serge Ibaka, and Monta Ellis all under contract next season keeping Hibbert in a Raptors uniform could be a very realistic possibility. The Raptors are also planning on a making a run at both free agent PGs Chris Paul and Deron Williams once free agency begins. It would probably be tough to lure either one to Toronto based on only having around $26 million in cap space to work with, but Toronto definitely has some attractive pieces to entice free agents.
I've got a few more rumors that will be up here shortly. Stay tuned for more to come!
