I bet Texas is so low because we put a lot much emphasis on American Football.

I bet Texas is so low because we put a lot much emphasis on American Football. I thought it was because of the comparison to the population of the state; since Texas has a much larger population than Vermont for example, which is second on this graph, it would need a lot more players to be the same number per capita thingy.

Per Capita, in this case, is the number of something that occurs divided by the amount that it came from. While Vermont does possess a smaller population than Texas, Texas can draw from a bigger pool of people.
