I accept
I get a legit rotation player and a pick in a deep draft
Plus I still have my cap space due to the fact that I will decline the team option on Wesley Johnson.

I really don't want Alex to get Wiggins... Damnit... I think this is a pretty good deal for the Spurs.

Gilbert Arenas will be removed from the game after this season will he not? He should be since he hasn't been in the league in over a year. If for some reason he isn't then his rating should be dropped by like 10 points anyway. Considering that kind of changes the complexion of this trade. JR gives up his two most valuable players for basically two mid 1st round picks in a weak draft and an average prospect in Cory Joseph. That's not exactly a good return...

Haha wait. Forget about that. It's Wesley Johnson not Wesley Mathews, my mistake. Still not a good trade, but it's not too awful for the Spurs.

This trade again is fair and by rules. I have the choice of declining all 3 players if I chose. Arenas is my fav player no matter the past. If he gets taken out of the game do be it I still save cap, but if he should many others should. It's not like his game is keeping him from returning. Give him the decrease but its not 10pts. He's still better than half the players I'm the 70 ratings. If the trades fair that's my choice. I'm trying to rebuild after a screwed up season. There's no reason not to accept.

Yet if this trade passes you just keep moving up the stepping stones to Andrew Wiggins I agree 100% that players that haven't played in the NBA for a certain amount of time (say two years?) should be removed from D5. I'm very concerned about the future of the San Antonio Spurs. It's not my organization, but it's a shame to see a team that was in the playoffs each year to turn into this... Look fag you always have shit to say and back out of trades. You are the newbie to the league and there have been some issues on why my team is the way it is. Mind your fuckin business. It's not like your teams a contender. Lets see who has a better team I'm the end. And don't worry about the Spurs. They are my team. Just like when you made threads for my team when I left for one day...Mind Your Damn Business!! Seriously...

I'm going to offer you Luis Scola for Wesley Matthews straight up.
Luis Scola will offer you a poor man's Tim Duncan's gameplay style. Rebounding, providing points, and doing all of the little things.
This trade will be straight up, no other players and no draft picks. Back to Top Logged Jameer Nelson - Jared Dudley - Danilo Gallinari - Kenneth Faried - Chris Bosh

In my honest opinion the Spurs need to get young talent on cheap contracts and hope they work out and clear space. In my opinion, this trade gives the Spurs a chance to this. I bet JR would love it if Arenas retired, and if he doesn't you might role with him for one more year.

And he's not retired from the NBA yet. Your right the only way to rebuild is this way and others always want to comment but not accept/decline. I have huge salaries to rid of and that won't happen so I have to build how I can. Billy King- the reason I have older player contracts--that's because last season I was a contender... But oh well things didn't go as planned. Can't wait for something like this to happen to some of you. Let me remind you if I would have retained TD we would be contending in the West.

I don't think its about whether or not a player is retired but rather we can't determine how he would play or what kind of health condition he would be in if he was playing in the NBA today. I'll let this thread re-focus back on the trade proposal though. If Arenas played In the league again he would still b better than half the players. Plus he's still getting paid!

If Michael Jordan still played in the league again he would still be better than half the players. If Larry Bird still played in the league again he would still be better than half the players. If Dennis Rodman still played in the league again he would still be better than half the players. If Hakeem Olajuwon still played in the league again he would still be better than half the players. If Magic Johnson still played in the league again he would still be better than half the players. You see what I'm doing? It's all speculation. You can't disprove me nor can I disprove you. The fact of the matter is though, if Gilbert Arenas would really be better than half the players in the league, why aren't teams pursuing him? Don't give me the excuse of "attitude" when we have players like Andrew Bynum and Dwight Howard or the worst of all, DeMarcus Cousins playing in the league. If he's still getting paid he can't be removed, but I'm sure he may be now.

If he's still getting paid he can't be removed Hmm, good point. On that note, I'd like to sign Zydrunas Ilgauskas to a 1 year contract! Other players you may want to sign include: Allen Iverson Antonio McDyess Morris Peterson Charlie Bell Jeff Foster Eduardo Najera Jason Williams Get your offers in quickly! Semi-retired players no longer in the NBA are a hot commodity and are going fast!

I think the most important thing regarding arenas is that his deal has a team option for the last year and JR could choose to decline it and gain more cap space.
Both williams and arenas will save JR about 6 million in cap space and get him closer to his rebuild.

Ed Davis for the 20th pick this year...eh don't love it but close enough I'd give it a pass. Maybe Cory Joseph is added in to make up for that value? Wes Johnson can be declined this coming year, Lamb is super cheap, and the 2nd is whatever - Arenas can be declined and Elliot Williams can be declined. Overall I'm not sure I would do this if I'm the Spurs, might want to just take a chance on the loaded 2014 class, but it's not a reject for me. Accept.

I was under the impression that someone like Arenas would either be removed, or get a rating decrease.

Arenas will indeed be removed from the league after this season, so SAS gets a bit of cap space from that, although he'll still be over the cap next season.
This gives the Spurs two first round picks in a weak draft, in exchange for (probably) a mid-first round pick in a strong draft. I imagine Houston doesn't have anyone in mind they want to pick at 16 and 20.
JR - do you have some players in mind for those picks?

No I had a couple people in mind but I think ed davis is better than anyone who would be left at 16 or 20 and that I wanted to perserve as much cap space as possible.

Well not until the season starts Vlade.
I honestly think, even down at picks 16 and 20, in this particular draft, you are getting players very similar in value to players that will be picked around picks 10-12. Maybe that's not saying much, but basically there are useful players throughout most of the 1st round, with a couple guys with more potential at the very top...but other than that it's not a huge drop-off once you get past the top...10? picks or so.
