Wanted to start up a thread leading to the draft since we only have a few days left. What is everyone's thoughts? Who do you want your team to draft? Any sleepers, busts and who do you see getting taken earlier than expected and who is going to free fall?
Heard the Magic might get Bledsoe. Could that mean McLemore gets picked up to balance out Bledoe's lack of shooting prowess?
I'm hoping my Bucks (real life) can grab Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Seems like the Timberwolves have interest but I heard rumors they might trade for Marshon Brooks. After that Portland could be another destination for Caldwell-Pope.
Working on a mock. This is my first one so it's gonna be changed quite a bit from now till Thursday.
1. Cleveland - Nerlens Noel 2. Orlando - Ben McLemore (If the trade with LAC goes down) 3. Washington - Otto Porter 4. Charlotte - Victor Oladipo 5. Phoenix - Anthony Bennett 6. New Orleans - Trey Burke 7. Sacramento - Michael Carter-Williams 8. Detroit - C.J. McCollum 9. Minnesota - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 10. Portland - Cody Zeller 11. Philadelphia - Kelly Olynyk 12. Oklahoma City - Lucas Nogueira 13. Dallas - Steven Adams 14. Utah - Dennis Schroeder 15. Milwaukee - Jamaal Franklin 16. Boston - Shabazz Muhammad 17. Atlanta - Sergey Karasev 18. Atlanta - Giannis Adetokoubo 19. Cleveland - Reggie Bullock 20. Chicago - Allan Crabbe 21. Utah - Mason Plumlee 22. Brooklyn - Rudy Gobert 23. Indiana - Tim Hardaway Jr 24. New York - Tony Mitchell 25. Los Angeles - Shane Larkin 26. Minnesota - Gorgui Dieng 27. Denver - Tony Snell 28. San Antonio - Isaiah Canaan 29. Oklahoma City - Ricky Ledo 30. Phoenix - Archie Goodwin

Here's a quick mock draft, with only the lottery being listed:
1. Cleveland - Nerlens Noel 2. Orlando - Victor Oladipo 3. Washington - Otto Porter 4. Charlotte - Ben McLemore 5. Phoenix - Anthony Bennett 6. New Orleans - Trey Burke 7. Sacramento - C.J. McCollum 8. Detroit - Shabazz Muhammad 9. Minnesota - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 10. Portland - Alex Len 11. Philadelphia - Cody Zeller 12. Oklahoma City - Kelly Olynyk 13. Dallas - Michael Carter-Williams 14. Utah - Dennis Schroeder
These picks could go anywhere, and I don't think there's a for sure pick in this draft. I'm still not biting on the Len to Cavs rumours, but who knows what they do.

I made this a few days ago so there is already stuff I want to change... Mainly that I expect Noel to go #1 now. I'll update it once I finish my new one.

NOTE THESE ARE MY DRAFT MOCK WITHOUT ANY PROJECTED TRADE.
and I'll give slight explanation for all the lottery picks ONLY ONLY.
1. Cleveland - Alex Len, Obviously if there is smoke there is fire and it looks like the Cavs are really looking to draft Len first overall, Big Z and others are pushing hard for management to take this kid who could become new Big Z with hard work and effort.
2. Orlando - Victor Oladipo, HONESTLY I think Burke should be the pick they already have plenty of SG/SF, but it looks like Oladipo really did well in his workouts to wow the Orlando Magic, and Orlando wants more high character players after Dwight debacle.
3. Washington - Nerlens Noel, NO WAY I can see Noel drop past 3, I know WASH has huge need at SF, but after this year Okafor/Ariza will be gone, and you can find any run in the mill player for SF, but finding a good center is hard, and seeing Noel and his upside will be too much for Wizards to pass on especially since they probably want someone else other then Seraphin (really a PF) and Booker running the center spot.
4. Charlotte - Ben McLemore, MATCH MADE in heaven fit, CHA needs scoring, McLemore can shoot and score lights out, if it is true that his draft stock is falling BIG TIME, then CHA should snag him up to create a solid perimeter team of Walker, MAC and MKG.
5. Phoenix - Otto Porter, if PHX had their way they'd want Oladipo but ORL might already be taking him, and they don't need PG and C right now, they don't need Anthony Bennett since Beasley does the same thing, SG is a NEED but it might be too early or reach to take Shabazz or KCP, so they probably go with BPA and take Porter.
6. New Orleans - Anthony Bennett, I know everyone thinks Burke will go to NOP but I can't see it, they have Vasquez at PG and Rivers at SG along with Gordon, the biggest problems right now are at SF and C, I expect them to help relieve some pressure off Davis and those guys by taking Bennett who is a very good scorer.
7. Sacramento - Trey Burke, easy pick need a PG for a long time, they can trade Fredette to Utah or where ever and move Tyreke for SF, but a PG with strong intangibles is what they need and Burke is just what the doctor ordered.
8. Detroit - Michael Carter Williams, many people think that Burke might be pick, but at same time he might not because they would have a midget backcourt with him and Knight, so to instead facilitate Knight's inability to pass and his ability to score they are likely to select a taller PG like MCW to combine with Knight in backcourt.
9. Minnesota - Kentavious Caldwell Pope, this one is tough pick they also want Oladipo and move up draft and they have major issues at SG/C right now (with Pekovic as FA) I think they will take a SG now and wait for possibly Gorui Dieng later.
10. Portland - CJ McCollum, crazy pick and probably don't make sense but I assume POR still lives by mantra of high character guys which would eliminate Shabazz from the list otherwise he'd be pick here, but they need help at SG/C and they just drafted Leonard so cross C out, so that leaves them with needing a scorer off the bench which McCollum can contribute to big time.
11. Philadelphia - Steven Adams, Philly needs a big with Bynum being a FA and Kwame Brown possibly opting out of his contract which would leave them with Allen and Moultrie at Center position
12. Oklahoma City - Cody Zeller, for some reason OKC wants to move up in draft and had talks with CLE for first pick, don't know why or have a clue but they need a scoring bigman if they are gonna amnesty or replace Perkins and Zeller is a perfect fit for what this team is looking for.
13. Dallas - Giannis Adetokoubo, DAL is desprately trying to get rid of this pick for more cap space, if they can't do that anymore most likely what they'll do is draft a foreign national and stash him oversees so he doesn't count against their cap space
14. Utah - Dennis Schroeder, Jazz have been after PG for a while now and this is their chance to solidify that pick but selecting a young upcoming who can be Rondo like or Collison like in Schroeder to lead the young nucleus of Hayward, Kanter and Favors.
15. Milwaukee - Kelly Olynyk 16. Boston - Shabazz Muhammad 17. Atlanta - Shane Larkin 18. Atlanta - Jamaal Franklin 19. Cleveland - Sergey Karasev 20. Chicago - Allen Crabb 21. Utah - Tony Snell 22. Brooklyn - Tim Hardaway JR 23. Indiana - Tony Mitchell 24. New York - Gorui Dieng 25. Los Angeles - Nate Wolters 26. Minnesota - Rudy Gobert 27. Denver - Livio Jean-Charles 28. San Antonio - Reggie Bullock 29. Oklahoma City - Erick Green 30. Phoenix - Richard Ledo

No way Milwaukee takes a center with their pick. They already have Sanders, Ayon, Udoh. They have no guards. Can't see them taking Olynyk.

I was gonna put MIL as taking Shabazz instead but do they want low character low IQ guys on the team they already have one in Brandon Jennings, do they want another one?

Not sure how they feel about Shabazz. Honestly, if he's there at #15, I think the Bucks take Franklin or KCP (assuming he's there) over Muhammad. I might even consider Larkin ahead of Muhammad on the Bucks draft board. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Here's my updated Mock Draft
1. Cleveland – Nerlens Noel If it wasn't for injury concerns Noel would most likely be the consensus number 1 pick this year so if the Cavs are able to trade the pick they will most likely go with Noel. 2. Orlando – Ben McLemore Despite rumors of unimpressive workouts, the Orlando Magic are in desperate need of a star and McLemore has the potential to fill this need. 3. Washington – Otto Porter Porter may not have the star potential you expect with the number 1 pick; however, at number 3 Porter is more than competent to be a solid SF playing alongside Wall and Beal. 4. Charlotte – Anthony Bennett Charlotte needs to focus on gaining as much talent as possible and Bennett has the potential to be the most talented player in the draft. 5. Phoenix – Victor Oladipo This draft is lacking in franchise altering players so Phoenix will draft an athletic Oladipo who will be a solid SG and great defender for many years. 6. New Orleans – Alex Len The Hornets will look to build around last year's number 1 pick in Anthony Davis and adding Alex Len lets Davis focus solely on excelling at the PF position. 7. Sacramento – Trey Burke Despite already having some talented young PG's, if Burke falls to Sacramento the Kings will not be able to pass him up. 8. Detroit – Michael Carter-Williams While Calderon provided a temporary solution, Carter-Williams will provide the Pistons with a true PG to run the team instead of another combo guard like Knight or Stuckey. 9. Minnesota – CJ McCollum The T-Wolves need a shooter and McCollum provides this. 10. Portland – Shabazz Muhammad Shabazz's draft stock has fallen a lot recently, however he still has tons of potential as a scorer and the Trailblazers will be glad to take him if he is still available. 11. Philadelphia – Cody Zeller Cody Zeller was at one point thought of as a top 5 pick but the 76ers will be glad to add him as an athletic front-court scoring option with the 1th pick. 12. Oklahoma City – Stevn Adams Adams provides the Thunder with another big man who can protect the rim and serves as a potential replacement for Perkins down the road. 13. Dallas – Shane Larkin Larkin provides a potential replacement for Darren Collison who proved to inconsistent throughout last season. 14. Utah – Dennis Schroeder Utah is a need of a PG of the future and could potentially have one in Dennis Schroeder
15. Milwaukee – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 16. Boston – Kelly Olynyk 17. Atlanta – Sergey Karasev 18. Atlanta – Lucas Nogueira 19. Cleveland – Giannis Anteokounmpo 20. Chicago – Tim Hardaway Jr. 21. Utah – Mason Plumlee 22. Brooklyn – Jamaal Franklin 23. Indiana – Allen Crabbe 24. New York – Gorgui Dieng 25. LA (Clippers) – Tony Snell 26. Minnesota – Glen Rice Jr. 27. Denver – Ricardo Ledo 28. San Antonio – Tony Mitchell 29. Oklahoma City – Rudy Gobert 30. Phoenix – Isaiah Cannan

Thats probably the best return they could get for him I think they can get more for Aldridge than what Cleveland was giving up.. They probably don't want to risk having another big with knee/leg issues. Maybe if Cleveland threw in Tristan it might get consideration.

NBA superstars are hard to find. They can be expensive or impossible to acquire in free agency. And they are rarely available via trade. And that's why NBA teams don't try to draft role players. Most NBA teams would rather take a chance on a player with a 10 percent chance of being a star, and a 90 percent chance of being a bust, than a 100 percent chance of being a polished but unspectacular end-of-the-rotation player. Part of that process means that NBA teams love aggressive players. They love players that use a high percentage of their team's possessions in college. They want players that believe they are the most talented athlete on the floor. It doesn't matter whether those players are great. But they should at least believe they will be great. If a player defers to his teammates at the college level, the likelihood he will defer at the pro level is just too high. It is easy to get players to shoot less. Expecting someone to shoot more while playing against veteran NBA talent is something most general managers won't bank on. With that said, here are some players who have particularly high or low usage rates who are projected to go in the first round of the 2013 NBA draft: Aggressive Players NCAA Pct Poss CJ McCollum 37 Tony Mitchell 35 Pierre Jackson 30 Jamaal Franklin 30 Kelly Olynyk 30 Trey Burke 29 Shabazz Muhammad 28 K. Caldwell-Pope 27 Cody Zeller 26 Anthony Bennett 26 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was even more aggressive than these numbers suggest. He actually took 33 percent of his team's shots when on the floor. But because of Caldwell-Pope's low turnover numbers and his teammates high turnover numbers, he used a lower percentage of team possessions. Less Aggressive Players NCAA Pct Poss Shane Larkin 22 Jeff Withey 21 Nerlens Noel 19 Gorgui Dieng 18 Steven Adams 18 Reggie Bullock 18 These numbers explain why observers of college basketball often struggle to understand the NBA draft. - Gorgui Dieng was the cornerstone of a national championship team. His explosive help defense allowed Louisville to press and take chances that most defenses could not afford to take. Because he was so good at recovering for other people's mistakes, Louisville's defense played at a historic level. Meanwhile Dieng's emerging free throw lane jump shot balanced out Louisville's offensive attack and gave the team the right spacing to score against any defense. - Shane Larkin was a transformational player for Miami. He turned a group of talented players who struggled to win into the ACC champions. Larkin's passing numbers don't do justice to his impact on the offense. He was a floor leader who made sure everyone knew where to be and how to execute their role. He was also an underrated defender whose quickness at cutting off penetration helped improve a defensive unit that had been bad for several years. - Conversely, Shabazz Muhammad was viewed as a selfish college player. He walked off the court after a teammate hit a game-winning jumper without bothering to congratulate him; he never passed the ball; he lied about his age to improve his NBA draft stock. And Muhammad did not end his season with the kind of memorable NCAA run that would have saved his coaches' job. Instead UCLA ended its season with a whimper, losing its first NCAA tournament game. And yet Shabazz Muhammad is projected to go much higher than Dieng or Larkin. Muhammad, despite his lack of a developed outside shot, despite his baggage, despite all his negative intangibles, still believes he is the best player on the floor. He is athletic, he is talented, and he is aggressive. And in the end, NBA teams would rather take a chance on Muhammad becoming a superstar, than on Dieng or Larkin being a key rotation piece. Similarly, it may seem puzzling to followers of college basketball that Tony Mitchell could sneak into the first round. He had academic issues out of high school which forced him to attend North Texas. And while he was dominant and aggressive there, he never really played enough games against elite talent to truly evaluate his game. But Mitchell was aggressive and successful at his level of basketball. And the possibility that Tony Mitchell is the next Paul George makes him intriguing to many scouts. A polished winner like Kansas' Jeff Withey is far less intriguing. We've had time to pick apart Withey's game and we know what his ceiling is. Mitchell might only have a small chance of dominating in the pros. But not knowing Mitchell's ceiling makes him interesting. But perhaps the most surprising part of this analysis is that many people's projected top pick in the 2013 draft, Nerlens Noel, was not a particularly aggressive player in college. Of course Noel is being drafted for his defense as much as his offense. And Noel was injured last year. Had Noel played two more months of college basketball, he might have become a more aggressive player. But Noel's low usage rate is still a red flag. It would be somewhat unusual for a player like Noel to have such a quiet season and then become a star in the NBA. In the next table I look at current NBA stars and examine their final college statistics. I list players in the Top 25 of Bill Simmons 2013 Trade Value Column and show the percentage of possessions they used in college. (International and prep-to-pro players are excluded from the table.) In college only Anthony Davis had a comparable percentage of possessions to Noel. And Davis played for a much deeper and more talented Kentucky team than the one Noel played on: NBA Stars NCAA Pct Poss NBA Usage Rate Stephen Curry 38 25 Dwyane Wade 34 27 James Harden 33 27 Brook Lopez 32 26 Kevin Durant 32 27 Blake Griffin 32 24 Tim Duncan 30 25 C. Anthony 28 32 Paul George 28 22 Kevin Love 27 27 John Wall 27 29 Derrick Rose 27 30 Kyrie Irving 27 29 Joakim Noah 25 17 Al Horford 24 20 Chris Paul 23 24 R, Westbrook 23 31 Chris Bosh 22 20 Anthony Davis 19 20 (NBA usage rates and the NCAA percentage of possessions stats are technically slightly different formulas, but both measure a player's aggressiveness on offense.) This doesn't mean that Noel won't eventually become a star in the NBA. Russell Westbrook became a more aggressive NBA scorer after being more passive at UCLA. And if I expanded this table or looked back at past seasons, I'm sure I could find some quieter college scorers who became NBA stars. But in the world of scouting, polish and accomplishment are often dwarfed by the simple question of who is the most aggressive. If you believe you are the best player on the floor, maybe someday you will be.

I'm only going to do a Top 5, because anything outside of that is just speculation, but I think this is how's going to break down in the Top 5 at least:
1. Cleveland - Nerlens Noel 2. Orlando - Ben McLemore 3. Washington - Anthony Bennett 4. Charlotte - Alex Len 5. Phoenix - Victor Oladipo
