Minnesota Trades: 81 Jamal Crawford $10,000,000
Total: $10,000,000
Phoenix Trades: 79 Lamar Odom $8,200,000 PHX's 2013 2nd Round Pick MIL's 2015 2nd Round Pick
Total: $8,200,000
125% Rule: $8,200,000 x 1.25 = $10,250,000 > $10,000,000
I accept. I'm not in the playoffs, season is over for me, I get a couple picks to pray on. 2nd Rounders are worth very little unless it's a great draft, and those drafts are not supposed to be great. But, maaaaaybe I get lucky. Better than nothing
PHX gets another 80+ player at a position of need. He has a shot at making the playoffs, and if he does, you never know. If he makes some noise, it helps him keep and/or attract players to his team.

I accept but it genuinely blows my mind that Phoenix is content to effectively give away two 2nd Rounders for absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing.
I know they're just second rounders, but why would you give them away? I just don't get it.
Phoenix? Any reason why you feel like giving Minnesota a helping hand? Does he sound like he's fallen on hard times?

Not that I am speaking for Phoenix, but just logically, it's pretty easy to glean his reasoning...
#1 - I'm not giving him Crawford for Odom straight up.
#2 - The picks don't mean much to him in weak drafts, especially with the way you have Draft Rights set up. NBA Teams can hold onto overseas guys and hope they pan out for basically forever, we can only do 1 year here. It really makes 2nd Rounders worth very little unless it's a super deep draft, which 2014 may be...the two years around it, not so much.
#3 - Phx must think he has a chance to make some noise, and he's showing a commitment to all of the FA's out there that he is committed to a winning culture. He's making a change to make his team better.
With this trade, he will throw out a starting lineup of Sessions (79) - Crawford (81) - Butler (81) - Josh Smith (87) - Marcus Camby (80). His bench features a 78 Center, 77 SG/SF, 76 PG/SG, 75 SG/SF, 74 SF/PF and 74 SF/PF.
Basically he gives up measly 2nd rounders (his this year will be like pick 45 or 46 overall, Milwaukee's in 2015 we don't know, but he should be getting much better over the next two years and is already challenging for the playoffs this year) in weak drafts for a better chance at winning this year, trying to make Josh Smith happier, etc.
It can all be summed up: If he wanted Crawford he needed to give me the picks. The picks mean little to nothing to him, winning and trying to attract FA's means way more, so he went for it.

I accept. Phoenix is basically giving away free second round picks, but they're second rounders, so I don't think they're valuable enough to reject.

I accept. Minnesota just gave most of my reasons. The additional reason is I have a lot of 2nd round picks, and already have a lot of good, long-term contracts. I don't really need all of those, I'll just be keeping some picks unsigned. And if I can trade even just two of them for a better chance of making a run at this year's playoffs and proving that we're improving, then I'm happy.
