I would reject his trade.
Basically its expirings for expirings. And its not like either team has a chance to win everything. So trading expiring to win doesn't seem to be the situation. My problem with this trade is Portland trading a 2013 #1...FOR WHAT?
This trade is fair enough without the pick. Wolves get a #1 for nothing.

You know I looked at this again and Portland does have a chance to make a run. But 3 Pgs. LOL. I would consider this trade. I still see it as expirings and a first for expirings and a slim chance to get better and try and make a run. I can understand Portland wanting to get players with a better rating too then what they were trading out. But if you guys are being so picky about trading ....How is this realistic?

OK, first of all - I accept.
I've been looking to deal these guys for awhile as almost everyone has seen. Finally got a pick for them which is what I wanted.
Second - Yes "expiring for expiring" but it is one bum of a player for 3 highly useful players. This is huge for Portland to make a run this year. If he wants a shot at the championship more than he wants the 14th pick in next year's fairly weak draft class, you are mad about that? Also, NOP is only .5 game out of the playoffs right now so it may not even be a lotto pick...and if it is it will be the absolute last pick going into the Lotto.
So to answer your question from your first post JR, he trades a 2013 #1 (Again, weak class, late lotto or later pick) FOR WHAT? - A chance at the championship. Makes sense to me.

Portland is going all in. He adds more depth. He has an uphill battle though in the west. You never know though. I am in the minority that say this draft class isn't as weak as some say. It lacks a true number one pick and it hasn't been as heavily scouted like 2012 or even next years 2014. Still think it could produce a few all stars. All in all it's a decent deal.

Walt your right that's why I posted twice. You made a very smart move. If it works out for Portland and he wins it all that's awesome. I just don't know about giving away a #1 for expiring just to try and win it. He could of least gotten one of your younger talent in the trade to offset the pick. It's approved now and I can't wait to see the outcome for both sides...

Basically everything that Walt said is spot on. Trying to get players to boost my bench so that hopefully my team can make a play-off run. I mean I'm really not a fan of this upcoming draft, so giving it away for some depth is a good move I would think.

I actually think Minnesota is ripping off Portland here, he's got very lucky in my opinion, it's a mid-1st rounder for nothing, but it's not like Portland has no assets left after this so I accept.
Trade passed.

Trade passed. If your looking at it from that perspective then sure, I'm getting nothing when next season comes around. That's the risk I'm taking though for this season.

I think Portland will get a very valuable bench asset for next season!
