Chose a more realistic basketball oriented GM name. We are shying away from random names.

I can see how it can be pretty gruesome though, but if that's how you feel then you definitely shouldn't play this video (It's the box cutter scene).

Being a politically minded chump, and without having watched that video, I tend to view such things as attempts to de-sensitize the American public to the idea of torture and it being an OK thing to do. "24" pioneered it and I find it to be a really disturbing trend in American TV culture that obviously parallels the rise of torture as a tool used by Americans at Guantanamo Bay and upon all those thousands tortured to death using US/UK funding in places like Uzbekistan.
Then again maybe I read into things too much, lol.

Yea, we like our violence, that's for sure. I think a lot of the shows I've watched lately are pretty violent. Walking Dead, Son's of Anarchy, Breaking Bad. There's still some good ones though like Mad Men as well as some good comedies like Workaholics, The Big Bang Theory and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Yea I dunno, I think that's denying human nature too much. Sex and violence are huge parts of how we evolved to where we are. It's natural that people are fascinated by it. I also think in general that people are smart enough to separate fake from real and that an argument like 'video games make people violent' is total garbage. Society has never been more peaceful. Interestingly, that is a statement that might always be true:
While Guantanamo Bay and most of the USA's foreign policy is awful I would question that torture is on the rise.

I am not sure this will go anywhere, but I will give it a try; how can people say that prisoners within Guantanamo Bay are treated so poorly, yet they regularly gain weight and get to pray toward Mecca six times a day? Sounds like torture to me!

Sounds like torture to me! What the hell does political correctness have to do with this? Also what you wrote is ridiculously ignorant. The vast majority of people in Guantanamo aren't even criminals. They were just grabbed up and held for no reason. The US government doesn't have anything to charge them with. It's just indefinite detention. No charges, no evidence, no rights. Fuck due process.

They have their own belief system that doesn't take into effect facts.

This is a much more in depth discussion than should live in the Join section guys, I'm going to lock it and we can continue it in the General Disc. if you want, by starting a new thread there.
