The Hornets Nest
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the first edition of The Hornets Nest! This column will give you the inside information on the rebuilding New Orleans Hornets as they try to break the path that has been laid down before them! Can the Hornets become relevant again? Can they build around their current players? Does anybody give a damn? Stick around this season to find out!
NEW GM?
After an opening day loss at the hands of the Cleveland Cavs, it seems as if talks around NO have been calling for the current general managers head. After a heated argument and a physical removal from team headquarters, it seems as if there WILL be a new GM in New Orleans this week. Speculation has been that Jackie Moon, most known for his turn around of the Flint Tropics back in the ABA days, has been contacted about taking the team's reigns and turning them from something no one wants to see to something "fun" and "tropical". When asked about if he had been contacted about the position Moon had this to say...
"New Orleans Hornets and Jackie Moon? Doesn't have a ring to it. Now, Jackie Moon and the Hornets of New Orleans? That's a money maker right there. Thats what the people want to see and thats what will help bring this team back to relevance. Come on guys, I'm like Bambi's mother, remember?"
Will Jackie Moon as a general manager help give this team the surge they need? Many say no, while others say hell no. What we do know is that change is certainly coming for the New Orleans front office.
GORDON ON THE BLOCK?
With the start of a new season, the trade speculation has already started up that Eric Gordon may be on his way out of New Orleans. Concerns about his injury history and his ability to carry a team has many NO fans wanting him gone. Talks have begun of multiple trades that can send him out to a new team, Cleveland and Oklahoma City being amongst the teams interested. THN (The Hornets Nest) caught up with one local fan and asked him why he thinks nobody is giving Gordon the chance he deserves. . .
"He's just no Chris Paul....."
