It should be a big year. I'm not sure how many of those guys are actually available though. Dwight is staying in New York. Josh Smith is likely staying in Phoenix. Batum isn't going anywhere.
There are a few big names really on the market though. The Bulls don't have the cap space to re-sign Chris Paul. The Thunder don't have the cap space to re-sign Deron Williams. Clippers are already over the cap so Ginobili is changing teams. Al Jefferson will probably be gone. So that's two superstars and two damn good players who are really available.
I'm also wondering when/if OKC and Chicago are going to do something about their situation.

Those figures don't count the team's team options though.
But New York looks pretty scary, even with team options they only have like 28mil, plus say 18mil for Dwight and their at 46mil. So they'll still have about 14mil to sign some more FAs, Josh Smith? Manu?

Correct me if I'm wrong, cause in last OSFA, I didn't have any Team Options - but didn't they only count to the cap at the end of the off season? It would certainly change the way I value certain players if that fails to be the case for the next.

Some teams have as much as 12mil in team options, so they get to spend that money twice? Like look at the Bobcats, he goes from being 10.5mil under to being over the cap with team options counting. So he gets to sign a big time free agent for 10mil per year then have 12 mil in salary that he already committed to only count later? That doesn't seem very fair.

I don't really agree with it either, but I can't have been the only one who had taken the past ruling into account in the way I've been building my team.
It may actually be a good idea, at least in my opinion to switch the ruling as early as now, when it hasn't been abused majorly (Lakers were already over the cap, Chase Budinger's contract barely makes a scratch, and well, Jamaal Tinsley), and so that teams that believe they would be affected by the ruling can act accordingly.

The rule can certainly be changed, but I don't think that would be fair this coming Off Season, we'd have to change it next season.
I've never really debated it in my mind. I suppose it would make sense for Team Options to be picked up from an early point in the Off Season, to have the deadline for picking them up before OSFA begins, and for them to count against your cap afterwards if you picked them up.

I honestly think that this is probably the point where it's most fair. Last OSFA, there were only 4 Team Options taken on, the only one of significance (Significance in terms of contract size) was Andrew Bynum, and It really didn't affect the Lakers' cap figure much.
Whereas next year, you've got teams essentially getting an extra lump of cap to work with because of predetermined contracts. I mean, these teams could hypothetically just jump millions over the cap with little risk.
*3 Options, rather.
