I'll state an opinion, share some article or stat, or something more or less positive about a player, and Jerry will have some snide remark, twist what I say, or otherwise bring it down, call it stupid, or something like that. So I end up arguing with him. Or he'll make a remark randomly about me/my actions, and I just can't let it go because to me it appears to be perceived as the truth, and I feel compelled to defend myself/clarify something, so here comes the same old argument, *again.* Some recent examples: sharing Reddick's podcast about Trae's defense being better this year, last night regarding my opinion about not taking into account sim build or sim production into voting on rating changes, or the constantly reoccurring free agent argument about WCJ. So my inability to ignore Jerry really ends up in me being just as guilty about the exhausting bickering. Which all of it is toxic and leads to a community that isn't fun when it's supposed to be. So I realize I have a part in that, even though from my perspective I'm just defending myself because Jerry misconstrues things. Which, a lot of the discord people keep asking me why I let him get to me or why I can't just ignore him. And I can't, idk. Which is why usually a few times a year I practically beg him to leave me alone. And it's led to me actually, genuinely, hating a person I don't even know, which is absurd & unhealthy. I feel like a lot of people view online beef as something fun and lighthearted but it isn't for me 😅 and every year I am forced to step back because it becomes disruptive in my real life. |
