Feels like an obvious one to do here, even though he isn't on my team.
Wemby has been insane despite the Spurs anemic play and insistence to turn British Dennis Rodman into a primary ballhandler. I think its important to stagger his increase, as he is not without flaws here that are worth addressing:
All that said, there's no question he's been incredibly impactful in the aggregate and on a per minute basis:

Wemby has been insane despite the Spurs anemic play and insistence to turn British Dennis Rodman into a primary ballhandler. I think its important to stagger his increase, as he is not without flaws here that are worth addressing:
- The efficiency has not been there -- he is at a huge usage rate for a rookie (31%, which is tied with SGA and Mitchell, above Steph and Anthony Edwards) and given the other positional challenges in the Spurs lineups, he's "only" at 46/30/81 for shooting with 56% TS
- He's a turnover machine (16th percentile, and amongst high usage players (above 30% USG), only Trae is more prolific at turning over the ball. Much of that is a product of his size and players being able to get into his handle, but still worth calling out he's averaging 3.4 TOs per game
- Considering he attempts nearly a third of his shots (31%) from midrange, he has a pretty pathetic conversion rate (just 33% FG) which puts him in the 9th percentile for midrange League wide. Compared to other high usage guys, the only two even close to him in being that futile are Giannis and Anthony Edwards; both those guys attempt a comparable amount from that range and are still better than Wemby by a decent amount.
All that said, there's no question he's been incredibly impactful in the aggregate and on a per minute basis:
- 20.4/10.3/3.2/4.3 STOCKS (League leader in the combined category, and first in blocks at 3.2) in just 28.6 MPG across 44 GP is bonkers
- Advanced stats wise, he's elite or very good in several categories:
- Block percentage (9.5%, behind only Walker Kessler's staggering 10.2%)
- Defensive Rebound Rate (29.9%, 99th percentile and behind only a handful of Bigs -- Sabonis, Jokic, Love, Drummond, Duren, Nurkic -- in that category)
- Offensive Rebound Rate (8.7%, good for 81st percentile)
- Combined Rebound Rate (19.3%, which is top ten in the League)
- DEPM (+3.4, 98th percentile)
- Overall EPM (+3.8, 94th percentile),
- EW (+5.7, 92nd percentile)
- Defensive Points Per Possession Saved = -9.5, which is in the 97th percentile and reflective of his defensive impact that the Spurs are 10 points better on just one end with him out there.
He's currently a 79, and definitely warrants a boost:
