Vince Williams Jr., aka VWJ, needs some recognition for his play for the Grizzlies this season. Working his way up from a two-way to a full three year deal, he’s had an impact that goes beyond the counting stats for the Grizzlies this year:
His play has also pushed other young guys drafted well above him on Memphis to the bench and he’s been one of the few bright spots on this injury pocked Memphis squad. Definitely rounding into a really nice young role player who with some shooting improvement could be a solid 3 and D guy for years to come.

- 6.9/5.2/2.0/1.5 STOCKs per game in 23 MPG on not great shooting splits (38/35/84) with solid TS of 57% across 30 GP
- Defensively, he’s been excellent so far with a +2.6 D EPM (97th percentile), 87th percentile for defensive impact (Memphis is 5.1 points better with him on the court than off defensively), and he’s at a stellar 19.5 defensive rebound rate. To put that in context, Walker Kessler and Mitchell Robinson are at that same mark as 7 footers — VWJ is 6’4”…
- Overall, his net effect on the court has been 91st percentile league wide (10.7 points better as total impact for the Grizzlies with 25 expected wins generated)
