It's time... the stock watch you've all been waiting for.
Current Rating: 78
23-24 Season Stats:
16.4 pts / 4.1 rebs / 5.2 asts / 1.1 stls / 1.3 blks (20th)
48% FG / 41.2% 3pt / 89.8% FT (8th!) / 64.1% TS (21st)
That's the basics. Let's dig a little deeper.
ORtg 130 (16th) / DRtg 111
4.4 WS (15th) / 2.7 OWS (17th) / 1.6 DWS (26th) / .198 WS/48 (12th)
5.3 BPM (15th) / 3.3 OBPM (30th) / 2.0 DBPM (13th) / 1.9 VORP (18th)
"But Sam," you say, "these are all just basic box score stats, I like REAL advanced stats."
My friend, you're in for a treat.
3.66 LEBRON WAR (13th) / 3.59 LEBRON (13th) / 2.22 O-LEBRON (26th) / 1.37 D-LEBRON (30th)
(For some context, D-LeBron favors bigs pretty heavily, with 26 of the higher rated players in the category holding a PF or C designation, a guard being top 30 is very noteworthy)
Did I mention this guy plays for the best team in the league? At 28-8 they currently have a 2 game lead on everybody.
"More advanced stats!" you say...
+5.5 EPM (9th!) / +3.3 OFF EPM (27th) / +2.3 DEF EPM (22nd) / 5.8 EPM EW (12th)
"I don't know, Sam. This is a lot of stats and I like the eye test."
Shut up, you know he passes the eye test.
If you're counting, that's no less than 20 hugely important statistical / advanced statistical categories in which he ranks at minimum top 30 (left off a handful that were just outside of the top 30 to save us both time), 9 of those he ranks at least top 15 and a couple times showing up in the top 10, including an extremely strong showing in EPM.
Less than 20% of his 3s are assisted, he makes 50% of his corner 3s, he's shooting awesome from everywhere on the floor...
He's got an assist-to-turnover ratio greater than 3.0. He has a very above average 22.1% assist percentage for a player whose minutes register mostly as a shooting guard (the ast% clocks in at 54th in the league with only 10 SGs appearing above him and every single one of them has a usage% at least 4 points higher than his 19.3)..
His Team has Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum... all guys you'd trust with the ball in their hands... and still he tends to be the go-to primary ball handler not just early in the game but especially down the stretch. He hits clutch shots against strong defenders off the dribble, consistently takes on important defensive assignments, and most important he's going to make the right play to help his team win basketball games almost every time he touches the ball:
