Current rating 82 Suggested rating 84.5 + rework I know Evan just got injured, but I would like to have his new build done once he is back. His last SW was in the middle of his rookie season, so there is a total of over 100 games since that, including also 21 in this season with following stats. 16ppg / 10.5rpg / 2.9apg / 0.8spg / 1.7bpg .573 / .200 / .769 splits .607 TS% (rookie stats during his last SW 15ppg / 8.3rpg / 2.5apg / 0.8spg / 1.7bpg with .508 / .250 / .663 splits and .549 TS%) In first glance the stats don’t look that hugely improved, but if you zoom in a bit there is a lot of all around improvement with exactly same minutes per game.- Big improvement in rebounds increased by +2.2rpg (currently 11th in NBA)
- Big increase in efficiency with significant increase in FG%, TS% and FT% with a small increase in points +1.0ppg
- Minor increase in assist per game +0.5apg
- All around improvement in defense from a very good rookie defender with a lot of potential, to one of the best in the league (1st team all-defense) and in top 3 short list for DPOY.
If we dive in the elite defense a bit. Mobley’s defense doesn’t really show in stocks although he was last year 6th in blocks per game (this season 11th). Some of last seasons highlight stats - 3rd in NBA in contested shots
- 1st in NBA in contested three point shots - This is quite a ridiculous stat that sets him apart from all the other big man DPOY candidates. He can switch easily to guards in pick and rolls and stay on them to contest or defend the drives.
- Cleveland was best defensive team last year and Mobley lead NBA in defensive win shares
- This season he will likely miss all-defense team due to injury and not enough games, but he has again started the season as 6th in defensive EPM
I can also address what has not gone well. His points scored is still relatively low, but I would argue a lot of it comes from the situation playing behind two very high usage guys in Garland and Mitchell. Mobley's usage is only 134th in NBA and he normally attempts only 12 or less FGA per game. But if we look a the games (18 game sample this and last year) when he is taking more that 15 FGA in his stats are 23ppg / 11.5rpg with .560 FG%. This indicates clearly that he can keep the same efficient scoring with higher usage and likely would be a 20+ point scorer with different team mates or offensive system. His three point shooting did show some potential in rookie year, but has not gotten better, but actually the 3P% has gone even down, but he and the Cavs have accepted this now and he is hardly ever attempting threes anymore, which brings me to the rework request.Mobley is set to Score Area 10 which is the perimeter shooting big man score area, but he has taken only a total of 10 threes all season this year. The rework I am requesting is to be set to Score Area 9. We can also take points away from his 3p shooting (currently 43) and allocate to these other areas. I fully realize this might be his limit in rating unless he takes another step in scoring (usage), but I think it’s reasonable to bring him few points higher to an elite starter rating, to reflect his elite defense, improved very efficient inside scoring, and improved rebounding. Anything above 85 would be all-star, but that’s hopefully something for future SW.

Just blocked Sabonis also in the forums. Maybe this could seem like an overreaction based on just few small arguments and messages, but I did just realize what bothers me about Sabonis.
I have a good dog analogy of the situation. Sabonis is like one of these small (female) dogs that bark constantly on everything. Imagine him barking for 7 hours straight until 4am. Just really letting it out on everyone that passes by. Not necessarily just me. Just constant barking about everything. At 4am he stops and is quiet for an hour. Then at 5am he starts barking again. After only 3 barks, someone close by gives him big kick and yells stfu! Sabonis looks at the kicker with "Pikachu surprised" face, and goes "wtf I only barked three times and you kicked me, this is totally unfair, I'm victim, etc..blahlbah" Totally unaware of the fact what he has done earlier in the night.

You tend to be the common denominator in these situations.

I think I already told AK in Discord my opinion about the build he proposed. There are plenty of issues. Starting with lowering Inside Scoring and FG from his previous build when he has taken big leap in efficient scoring. Also the Defensive Awareness is way too low for one of the best defenders.
As I already mentioned in the OP, his 3 point shooting needs to be nerfed, but just by decreasing it, there won't be enough rating points to go around to increase the other areas he has improved.
Not a build expert, but below my very quick example where we could put the extra 30 rating point I'm proposing with this increase even when lowering the 3point rating. Although I don't pull the numbers from stats directly, but use my own estimation, for me that is realistic direction of what the build could be.

Kinda with Josh on this. He can get a re-work and end up the same OVR.
I think Sabonis, in this case, is kind of working this thing backwards. He's finding an OVR he wants / THINKS Mobley deserves, then applying points to places that just don't need it.
I feel confident an 84 is definitely too high. Just not sure exactly where I fall. I think since 3pt should be nerfed to that extent, he can essentially stay at an 82 and get boosts in lots of other places that he does deserve. But that might not be quite enough... I'll leave it up to fate.
