I really couldn't have seen this Richaun destruction of value happening. He was going so good when I gave him the contract! It sucks to give a 1st to get rid of him but I like having the added flexibility to be feisty in FA if the opportunity arises.

And, not only this off-season, but next off-season too. Richaun for 2 off-seasons is a major headache when I've got a rapidly improving team (IMO) as Cade comes back, Jalen continues to improve, and IQ possibly has an expanded role IRL coming. (And I gotta sign him / leave room for him while having fun in FA, potentially).

Anyway, decided I like having this money available for 2 offseasons more than I liked someone in that 25 range.

I accept as well. Perhaps not getting amazing value for taking on 2 years of 17M each year, but difficult to get a 1st otherwise. I add another late 1st in the draft, which I can potentially use to trade up or take a swing on a player.
