I was going to wait until the playoffs to do this, but I've gotten impatient. This is Brunson's 2nd SW of the year, and thus his last. I think there's a strong chance Brunson plays well in R1 and the Knicks win a series and that could convince some of you laggards, but my D5 Rockets need some help right now so here we are. Let's get to it. Current: 84Proposed: 87.44
Brunson had a shaky start to the year adjusting to his new team and that's dragged his season averages down a bit. I'll first show his season averages: He's putting up 24/3/6 on 59% TS for the entire season (61 games) and the Knicks are currently 39-27, 1 game behind the Cavs for 4th in the East. However, since December 15th, it gets even better: In 33 games, he's putting up 26.8/4/6 and he's doing this shooting 50.1% FG and 46.2% 3PT.
That's absurd! 33 games is a decent enough sample size and also over half the year.
Additionally, he ranks as the 11th overall player in RAPTOR in the league right now:
And while his defense is less than ideal, he still ranks ahead of: Jamal Murray, Devin Booker, Terry Rozier, Jayson Tatum, Klay Thompson, Bradley Beal, Tyrese Maxey, Malcolm Brogdon, Spencer Dinwiddie.
And just in case someone wants to use the playoff argument...here's Brunson LAST year leading the Mavericks to a Round 1 win against the Utah Jazz (while Luka was out):
27.8 PPG 4.8 RPG 4.2 APG
48.4% FG 36.4% 3PT
4-2 series win over the Utah Jazz that ultimately led to them dismantling their team. It wasn't Luka that did that - it was Brunson.
So Brunson has playoff success and is currently leading the Knicks to one of their best seasons in a long time while doing it at insane efficiency. 27/6/4 on 50/46 in his last 33 games, which is over half of the season.
I think he's at Mitchell's level but still doesn't have the duration of performance as someone like Mitchell, who is currently an 88. This is why I think Jalen deserves at least an 87.

85, convenient SW before the playoffs, people like to talk about the Jazz series where no defense was played, but it was the only series that Brunson averaged over 18 points in his entire career. But only his good series gets mentioned where no defense was played. Maxey has 2 over 20 to put things into context.

Btw he cut off before the Raptor list before it showed Giannis under Brunson, for reasons... I don't know because raptor is a bad metric?
Anyway, Giannis to an 85?

How do I ban Jerry from my own SWs? Not a sarcastic question, a legitimate request.

Series without Luka where he was the go to guy. Yes it's mentioned lol - he did this on his own. It deserves merit. 27/4/6 on 50/46 in 33 games = 85 for Jerry. Alright man, that's your opinion. Post it and be done with it

Goodbye dude ✌🏻 Mentions 1 playoff series instead of the 3 he had, algo ignoring that Luka averaged 29-11-11 when he played in that same series, cuts the RAPTOR image before Giannis appears to avoid showing it's clear flaws. You actually name Brunson has a better defender than Tatum lmao

You actually name Brunson has a better defender than Tatum lmao I mentioned the playoff series that Luka was out half the series, yes. I posted RAPTOR as an argument, amongst many others. It's not perfect, but it matters. Of course it's flawed - there is nothing that's perfect. If you wanna post a Giannis decrease go ahead. And if you want to post counter arguments against Brunson go ahead. But all you keep saying is what you feel and your own personal judgement, not actually pointing to any stats. All I did was use Def RAPTOR to showcase players Brunson is ranked ahead of, not claim he's a better defender than. I'm just using stats to backup the claim. The reality is there are no stats that will satisfy your bias and you're always one of the first people in my SWs and usually always rank them dead last. Stats, no emotions: 27/4/6 on 50/46 in last 33 games Top 15 player by RAPTOR Playoff success last season as shown 39-27 team record right now

You're also weirdly focused on the playoff series - "only time in his career he's averaged over 18ppg"
I mentioned it because Luka was out half the series so the Mavs relied on him. He's literally averaging 24ppg for the season right now and 27ppg over the last 33 games. I only included his playoff stats *for that series* to show what he did on his own when Luka was out. Obviously his stats returned to season norms with Luka back. If I said Brunson made the WCF last year you'd just say Luka did. So I didn't include stats/wins with Luka.
