Sabonis PA would like to have a talk with you Chauncey. Tell Sabonis that Hana found a loophole and is starting Lavine at PF ( which he hasn't done all year) and he's getting exploited. If in-game adjustments were a thing, it wouldn't be an issue, but here we are I wish we were able to control the amount of minutes per player, like in 2k I don't see Klay Thompson being benched because of Boston adjustments. In fact I don't see All-Stars being benched for that. So I'm really hoping I see him in the starting line-up the NEXT game.

Klay Thompson is a bad example, but I'm not gonna go down that road. Anyways, Ian is gonna have to force me to start Sabonis, otherwise it's not gonna happen. I'm trying to win and do what's best for my team.

I would say that Chauncey Billups can just about get away with it because: Off Season Free Agency (OSFA) RegulationsPromises to Players
- If a player is promised a starting role during contract negotiations and this promise is not fulfilled, the player may seek a trade from the team he joined.
- The team's GM will be warned that the player is unhappy with his situation and to rectify it.
- If a month passes and nothing is done, the GM is given 1 month in which to trade the player.
So consider this your official warning Chauncey Billups but a month from now the season will be over even if you win the championship, Chris Paul will likely be gone from your roster, and Sabonis will be back in the lineup, so it doesn't really impact you.

So what's the point of the rule? Tanking teams can sit everyone they want with 29 games to go in the season in order to tank? If there's a conscious decision of taking a player of that caliber out, there is no going back, specially mid playoffs. Imagine if the Celtics benched Jayson Tatum right now, would everything be good in the summer? I don't think so. It doesn't magically go away. If that's not the case, I think promises become pointless in FA and we should sign every player to each team offers no money independent of situation or loyalty.

I don't see an issue here to be honest as he is benched for Ant, who although not yet all-star is after the latest SW quite close to Sabonis rating. Being a 6th man doesn't necessarily even reduce the minutes too much. Specifically if this is only for this series where Cavs tries to play small ball. If it's long term benching, then it's different issue.
Comparing to Tatum or any 90s rated player is not really reasonable either, since no one is going to bench those guys just for a better positional match-ups

So which one is it? We had an All Star benched in the playoffs, something that NEVER happened, or did you guys voted wrong on Sabonis?

If in-game adjustments were a thing, it wouldn't be an issue, but here we are Exactly this ^ . This should be an absolute non-issue. This is just the only avenue Chauncey has to try and adjust matchups. It's not his fault we're using this antiquated system. Temporary lineup adjustments should not be overly scrutinized, especially in a playoff context.
