In his third year, Hayes has seemingly found a solid role as the starting PF for the Pelicans. The Pels are 7-3 when Hayes starts next to Jonas Valanciunas and he's been stretching the floor with his 3-point shot. His last **37** games:
11.2 PPG 5.2 RPG 0.8 APG 0.8 BPG
69% TS to include 37% from 3 on 37 attempts
He ranks above the following players in LEBRON:
Dwight Howard (77) Bojan Bogdanovic (82) PJ Tucker (76) OG Anunoby (80) Josh Hart Thomas Bryant (77) Jeremy Lamb (78) Mason Plumlee (78) Tristan Thompson (79) Keldon Johnson (80) Matisse Thybulle (77) LaMarcus Aldridge (80) Blake Griffin (76) Christian Wood (81) Julius Randle (85) Derrick Favors (77) Marvin Bagley (78)
Current: 73 Proposed: 78

He's not better than Hartenstein who just got a 76 (Who for comparison has a 2.19 Lebron vs 0.30 from Jaxson)
75
Also his last wins are vs Blazers, kings, Lakers, Blazers, Bulls, Spurs, Hawks, Rockets.
The spurs and Hawks where the only team fighting for something
For the season for people who don't care for just post ASB stats, he averaged 9 points a game with 4 rebounds and under 1 assist, under 1 steal and under 1 block in 20 minutes for the whole year.
Don't get fooled by post ASB stats. Don't let Bagley happen again.
Vote a 75

When you look at his On/Off stats, irrespective of lineup permutations in NOP, he is the definition of “average” being in the 47th percentile offensively and 50th defensively.

I have no doubt you'll spin the narrative any way you want, but these stats have more to do with his increased role, insertion into the starting lineup, and have been occurring since January. January (15 games): 10.3 PPG 3.7 RPG 70% FG February (11 games and ONLY 2 were post ASG): 12.4 PPG 5.7 RPG 75.7% FG March (15 games): 10.5 PPG 5.5 RPG 59.6% FG This has nothing to do with the All Star game and everything to do with his role changing at the beginning of 2022. Don't turn this into something it is not.

Yup — blame the Discord for posting a guy that has literally been the same player statistically across 3 seasons and were it not for Zion’s habitual injury issues, he’d be bench relegated if not off this team

You’re contending Hayes is the starting PF even though Herb Jones has literally held down that spot for the last 68 games…and Brandon Ingram has handled the other forward spot for much of the year…

And the average D5 rating for the entire league is a 76

And since the beginning of this January his play has certainly increased. You can't blame a player for other people being injured. If he's playing better then it needs to reflect that. 11/5/1/1 on 69% TS to include 37% 3pt on 1 attempt per game with a LEBRON that's at least positive and higher than the players I listed is a decent player playing better than he has in the past. All things considered, a 78 is not out of the question and in my opinion a 75 is just disservice to the player he is today.

77.
Hayes has been the starting PF since about the All-Star break. The lineup they want seems to be CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Herb Jones, Jaxson Hayes, Jonas Valanciunas.
As a starter Hayes is averaging 11.6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block in 27 minutes on 61/38/80 shooting splits. He's used off ball with cuts, duck ins, lobs and spot up jumpers. 78% of his buckets are assisted, and I'd bet a good amount of his non-assisted buckets are off of offensive rebounds. So he's very clearly a role player where everything is created for him, but he's been efficient in his role. Definitely better than a 73, but he's still kind of limited.
He's a super athletic, 6'11, 21 year old. Most of his appeal is in what he might become a few years from now. He's always been good in whatever minutes are given to him, but he's clearly not going to be a primary piece in your offense. Still deserves a boost though.

Genuinely curious why Jerry West thinks post-ASB stats don’t matter, discounting 1/4 of the season. Care to explain?

Genuinely curious why Jerry West thinks post-ASB stats don’t matter, discounting 1/4 of the season. Care to explain? They matter but it's pretty self explanatory why their value is lower. So coming in here with last 30 games instead of the full season it's clearly misleading, specially when mostly of his wins he mention in those recent 10 games are against g league squads. What if I come in here like: hey guys poku averaged a TD for a month before being rested because he is to good to let them tank. It would be a bad take right? I think everyone agrees. And that's what these takes are to a less extreme. And if you can't see this pattern happening around the league I'm sorry but you are legally blind.

It’s not the first time you’ve mentioned post-ASB stats not mattering, or at least not as much. You still haven’t explained why post-ASB numbers don’t matter, at least to you. And there’s nothing misleading about mentioning the last 30 games, when it’s clearly stated that’s what he’s doing.

What part of half his last 10 games were against G league teams did you have trouble reading? League is not at full strength anymore, a LOT of players sitting, a LOT injured, not to mention exhaustion from the guys who have been starting and being demanded to produce since day 1. The level of competition is not as higher and saying anything else is pure denial in order to favor narratives.

And this post mentions the last 37 games. Awesome. Not to mention the Pelicans were actually trying all year and are currently playing for a spot in the playoffs.

So we have one guy saying these stats are misleading because 5 of those games were against G league level teams and one guy saying these stats don’t matter because Zion is injured.
Anyways, 78 is too high. He’s a solid young player with potential, and he’ll get there one day.
Gonna vote 76

Do you think just because only 5 teams had g league teams the other didn't have weaker rosters like I mentioned? It's kinda pointless to argue when you dont want to listen. If you don't see a trend fine. Go buy yourself an jaylen Hoard island.

Next time someone puts in a stockwatch I’ll make sure to go through every game they ever played to make sure whatever team they played had their best players on the court or it doesn’t matter. It’s not like injuries and resting isn’t a thing all year.
