You all knew it was coming. Through 61 games:
28.0 PPG 5.4 RPG 5.1 APG
50.9% FG 35.7% 3PT
59.3% TS
The Bulls are 39-26 and DeMar is 4th on the MVP ladder behind Jokic, Embiid, and Giannis.
He's having a career year. Will this stay next year? Hard to say, but right now he's one of the best in the game hands down. His rating needs a boost to reflect that. He has historic playoff success as well, if that matters, although he's not led a team to the finals. I actually think he's elevated himself into Jimmy Butler-esque tier.
Proposed: 90.9

Been a long time hater of his game but I can’t ignore the impact — he’s been incredible this season

He has historic playoff success as well, if that matters, although he's not led a team to the finals. I actually think he's elevated himself into Jimmy Butler-esque tier. Proposed: 90.9 90.5, however, I could not abide this ridiculous characterization. DeMar has had historic playoff failure, not success. This is 1/2 of the choke bros we’re talking about, and he’s not the one who won a championship after their separation.

He's been great this season but as James said, he does not have a resume behind his name. He hasn't even made the playoffs in the past 2 seasons. If I compare him to someone like Booker, who put up better averages (27/7/4 on .618 TS for Booker in 2020 versus 28/5/5 on .593 TS for DeRozan this year) but only was allowed to break 90 after leading a team to the finals, I don't see how we could justify DeRozan being any higher than that.
