I had to move Schroder's salary in order to afford re-signing Harden while staying under the salary cap this off-season, so I knew that I was going to have to attach a pick to move Schroder's salary regardless. I wanted to try and leverage that pick to get expiring players that would also help me win now, and Lowry and Ibaka are the two most eligible players to help me do that.
I needed to show Harden that the Hornets are committed to competing - and upgrading our PG position to a player like Lowry does just that. Lowry is the minutes leader on the 1st seed in the East, and all advanced metrics are very favorable for him. Lowry seems, to me, to be a great guard pairing for Harden - tough defensive player that can space the floor, lead the offense when Harden sits, and doesn't need to be the center of attention.
Also excited to have Hornets champion Ibaka back on the squad - Ibaka was with the Hornets for a championship, a Finals appearance, and an Eastern Conference appearance.

Assuming James' signings are through, accept. A lot of pieces but nothing looks outlandish - looks like a lot from Charlotte but they are clearing a lot of cap and are probably getting the best player in the deal.

Currently Charlotte would need to sign 4 players to make this deal happen. |

I don't like this trade, because having to sign 4 players to make it legal is indeed "ugly", but if that existing rule is toothless then it needs to be amended and the current deal can be legal
