Nicolas Batum received interest from several teams over the course of the season, but he was biding his time waiting for a starting opportunity on a playoff contender to come around in order to showcase for contracts next offseason. While we hoped for more money, there wasn’t any takers for his initial salary asks; however, the fact Tom Izzo and the Rockets went above minimum and have promised the starting SF spot in light of Joe Ingles season ending injury is the exact opportunity Batum has been searching for. Houston has been in the mix in the West playoff pecking order for the last few years, and playing next to a top 5 player in Giannis was very appealing as well.
