LaMelo's play has been outstanding from the very start of the season but I have waited until the approximate half way mark of the season to get more of a sample size. To say he has performed well would be a huge understatement. He is only 19 and long term has every indication of being a star or maybe even superstar.

Season Stats (28.9 mpg)
15.7 ppg (1st among rookies)
6.0 rebounds (1st among rookies)
6.4 assists (1st among rookies - 17th NBA)
1.6 steals (1st among rookies - 5th in NBA)
.4 blocks (16th among rookies PGs)
Makes almost 2 3's per game - 3P% 37%
19.6 EFF (1st among rookies)
All these 1sts rankings while only being the rookie with the 4th most minutes played. He didn't start until about 20 gams into the season so his minutes and overall stats are going nowhere but up. He became a starter 14 games ago and would assume he will never come off the bench when healthy again for another game in his life.
Past 10 games stats (34.2 mpg)
20.2 ppg
6.3 rebounds
7.2 assists
2.1 steals
.4 blocks
Past 5 games stats (35.1 mpg) Trending direction is explosive
23.4 ppg
5.6 rebounds
7.6 assists
2.0 steals
.4 blocks
Although LaMelo is only 19, he is absolutely becoming the leader of the Hornets and they are certainly pushing for the playoffs with him running the team. The game omes very easy for him and it shows!
* 2 time rookie of the month (there have only been 2)
* Clear front runner for rookie of the year
* Youngest player to ever get a triple double
* Youngest player to hit 7 3's in a game
* Young Career High already 34 points
