Nikola Jokic
Current Rating: 93
Suggested Rating: 97 depending on how much it takes.
Is it a little early in the season for a raise? Maybe. Is it not really that big of a bump in rating to even be worth it? At this OVR I think so only because he's just better this year.
Reasoning for the bump: Either he's started doing steroids *looks at him* hmmm no. Well the dude has transcended.
He's maintained his level of surprisingly good defense for his size/sub-athletic build he's had his whole career. Lets look at the changes vs last season: bold = career high
27 ppg vs 19.9 ppg
57% FG vs 52.8% (top in 2pt attempts AND efficiency)
40% 3pt vs 31% 3pt the year before (last time he was raised I think we lowered it cause he was slumping)
87% FT vs 81% FT
11.1 rpg vs 9.7 rpg
8.6 apg vs 7 apg (more TOV per game but ast-tov percentage is higher as well)
1.6 spg vs 1.2 spg (top 3 in total steals on the season which is hilarious)
Advanced stats:
130 ORtg vs 119 (past 2 seasons)
Actually tying his career low DRtg but that career low isn't that bad 109 (best on the team of players over 500mins).
.300 WS/48 vs .202 WS/48
9.1 OBPM vs 5.5 OBPM
11.4 BPM vs 7.4 BPM
He's also on career leading paces in VORP and Win Shares which are season long stats.
In conclusion:
He's hitting the stratosphere on offense and has maintained his defense that he has over his career.
He's leading the league in PER, Winshares and Offensive Winshares and even tied for 6th in Defensive Winshares.
Leaders
He's on 37 of those leaderboards only two of them bad (personal fouls/turnovers). Turnovers list includes Doncic and LBJ but he's in the top of the minutes played list too so he's gonna foul a bit more, hasn't affected his ability to stay on the the court.
Of those he's top five in 14 of them, and #1 in 9. In many others he's beating out other players that are far higher OVR here in D5.
Needless to say I think he's amazing and deserves the rating, he's improved across the board offensively while not really backtracking defensively. If Harden can be a 97 with mostly average/slightly above average defense than so can Nikola Jokic.
Thank you for reading.
