On LeBron’s max, one thing of note is it can only be for three years due to a CBA rule — aka the Chris Paul rule — that prohibits four or five year max extensions once a player hits age 38. Since LeBron will be 36 in December, his extension must expire with the conclusion of his age 38 season.

Technically this rule can be circumvented by offering four years at just below the max amount, though that’d be called out pretty easily.
