Lots of Stockwatch Up threads here, and we need some balance. Enter Brook Lopez, he of a very nice defensive rating (4.8 DBPM) and increased BPG (up to 2.5) from years past, but offensively no longer the force he was in his 20s. With the exception of his FT% (86) and APG, he is down across all major offensive counting and advanced stats despite the historic pace the Bucks are on for both ends of the floor. His stats include: - 10.1 PPG (down from 12 PPG last year on similar shot attempts (8.9 this year compared to 9.7 last year)
- 41% FG (fourth straight year of decline and down 4% from last season)
- 29% from 3P land on almost 5 attempts per game (down from 36% and 6.7 attempts last season)
- -1.7 Offensive BPM (down from -0.2 last season and has declined the last three seasons)
- 49% eFG (way down from 57% of last season)
I will concede that his usage rate has declined as well, so with less touches a fall off was going to happen, but he probably benefits a lot playing in the Bucks system and next to a whirlwind force like Giannis that masks some of these trends in his game. In short, he doesn’t feel like an 80s type rated player despite the advanced defensive stats impact, which feels more like the Bucks system shining through than Brook finding defense nirvana at 31 years old:
Current rating: 80
Proposed rating: 77

I don't see any reason to lower him. He's been the anchor of a historic Bucks team and could make a case for being defensive player of the year. I think system plays a part of it, but I also think Brook's BBIQ on that side of the ball has increased. He knows where to be and he's been killer at protecting the basket without fouling or letting his hands drop.
Offense is down but he's also the 4 or 5th option now as you've stated. I think having that defensive impact mitigates a little bit of his declining offensive game.
In my opinion I'd say keep him at 80, but maybe adjust some of his attributes to reflect a less polished offensive player and maybe increase some of his defensive impact.

I agree Lopez is really important to how the Bucks are playing. 80 seems alright

Understand where everyone is landing on no change, but a rework at minimum should be done for him as he’s offensively as folks have pointed out not the same player. Maybe just drop his efficiency down, rebounding too and reallocate towards defensive awareness

THREAD CLOSED
No change, keeping at an 80, however I'll give his build a look and update if needed.
