Spurs trade the following to OKC: 77 Cody Zeller: $6,000,000 (2019-20); $6,000,000 (2020-21) 67 Keita Bates-Diop: $763,035 (2019-20); $934,234 (TO) (2020-21) JR Smith dead money contract: $13,092,363 (2019-20) John Jenkins dead money contract: $1,670,082 (2019-20) Total outgoing salary: $21,525,480 Trade percentage (outgoing): 90% Trade percentage (incoming): 110% New total cap obligations (SAS) (2019-20): $147,588,856 FOR 81 Serge Ibaka: $24,000,000 (2019-20) Total outgoing salary: $24,000,000 Trade percentage (outgoing): 110% Trade percentage (incoming): 90% New total cap obligations (OKC) (2019-20): $107,044,000 Accepted by the Spurs. To say we’ve had a disappointing start through seven games is an understatement, and with some serious reshuffling out West after this past offseason— with at least four, maybe five, postseason spots from last year up for grabs— we knew upgrading our PF position was paramount. Losing Zeller with Mo Wagner’s recent pop with the Wizards IRL shouldn’t sting, and while Bates-Diop is a player we like, he’s frankly fourth on the SF depth chart and shouldn’t be a prospect to hold up a deal in the big picture. We had tire kicked on several potential options, but kept coming back to the guy we felt fit with our current lineup best in Ibaka. His ability to stretch the floor, defend, and most importantly not inhibit our 2020 offseason plans with an onerous long term contract were all reasons we pursued him for weeks. Shout out to Kevin Hollis for being a solid trade partner throughout, and to provide acceptance as well.

I think this deal will end up being the first passed trade of the new season pending one more “approve” vote
