JOEL EMBIID _______________________________________________
Joel Embiid will sign the following Bird Rights maximum offer, to return as the Boston Celtics' franchise centerpiece.
2019/20: - $27,285,000 2020/21: - $29,331,375 2021/22: - $31,377,750 2022/23: - $33,424,125 2023/24: - $35,470,500
TOTAL: - $156,888,750
Usually, in a high-profile signing, we would have quite the argument for why a player decided with "Team A" over "Teams B, C, D, etc". In this case, the league pretty clearly already knew the outcome. Joel received only two offers, total (including Boston's), and the other manager seemed to be pulling a "why not, I have to at least try" type of offer.
Joel has become the face of the Celtics, and has shown every intention of staying with the franchise that drafted him (IRL), so there's no reason that wouldn't apply over here in D5. Both IRL and in D5, his team is now ready to compete at a high level.
Honestly, I don't think much more needs to be said, and again, the league pretty much spoke up VERY loudly by no one offering on him. It's not that Joel isn't a dominant force in this league - it's that he so clearly should and will be going back to the Boston Celtics.
Joel is incredibly happy and excited to bring the next great era of Boston Celtics basketball!
