Marcus is very excited to join a young Indiana Pacers team as a foundational piece, with a chance to be a leader for the franchise. The Pacers have a lot of flexibility in their future, and we are excited that Larry Bird values Marcus enough to make him a key piece in that future.

We would like to thank every team that offered, and of course Jeremiah Hill and the Grizzlies for the opportunity and trust they have placed in Smart over the years. It will be strange not to see Smart on the Grizzlies, but we are excited for the new opportunity in Indiana.
