I wanted to wait till season end to get a full picture of SGA, as he’s a tough guy to peg. He’s currently a 75 in D5, but watching his play on the court he certainly punches above that rating. The problem with him is...he has hard numbers to peg for an increase. His counting stats at year end for the playoff bound Clippers: - 26.5 mpg
- 10.8 ppg
- 3.3 apg
- 2.8 rpg
- 1.2 spg
- 47%/37%/80% FG/3P/FT splits, which for a rookie guard is pretty solid
Those numbers don’t jump off the page like Luka, Trae, or even Ayton, but he’s doing all of this having started 73 games for the Clippers and he played in all 82, which is saying something for a rookie PG under a notoriously difficult coach on rookies in Doc Rivers. His advanced stats are solid as well:- 13.35 PER
- Positive Offensive (1.5) and Defensive (1.9) Win Shares
He’s doing all of this too with a relatively low (18%) usage rate; with more free reign to shoot and dominant the ball, he could feasibly put up much better counting stats. Ultimately, though, SGA has shown all season he’s a guy who contributes to winning basketball, hasn’t been a drag on the Clippers even as a rookie, and has received praise from vets on that team— such as Lou Will and Beverly— for how steady and consistent he’s been.
I think a minor increase is warranted, and I’m hoping SGA gets a bigger role usage wise next year
Current: 75 Proposed: 77

Trae is better than him (and will continue being) but if you're talking contribution wise to make your team a winning team and playing smart on both ends, SGA is far ahead. 78

I love sga and think he's gonna be so good. Impressive he got Doc to play him major minutes as a rookie too.

77 - Agree that his numbers don't tell the whole story with him.
