This was proposed in the Injury thread and I'm content to implement it. Just thought I'd canvass opinion beforehand! The reason I've resisted change in the past is because there's only so much time I can personally devote to checking injuries, but it seems you GMs are pretty good at helping me out already. I think I would be happy to implement the following change. If: (1) The Amount of Time a Player is Expected to Remain Injured + (2) The Amount of Time a Player has Already Been Injured (proved by providing a link) => exceeds or equals 6 Weeks Then I will mark that player as injured.

So question. When the player comes back healthy in real-life, will they be brought back in the sim or are we going to hold them out for however long they were gone in real-life? I think this was the main issue being discussed.

I think we are over-complicating it. We are still relying on estimated time we find on random websites.
Just use the rule from D720: Players will miss games in the simulation if they miss a corresponding amount of games in succession in the real NBA for that regular season. The threshold is 15 regular season games.
So once a player has been out for 15 games in real-life, we take him out of the sim. Then once he comes back (lets say after being out for 28 games) then we bring him back in D5 after being out for 28 games.

I know ian is concerned about workload and that's the only thing I'll comment on here. It's a damn bitch to keep track of which teams are at 28 games, and you'll inevitably end up being a day or two late here or there. However, a day or two late (or early) is still INCREDIBLY more accurate than the current system. Also, I would strongly suggest upping the number from 15 games, because the list is just too damn long at 15. Maybe 25 would be better? I've been strongly considering changing it because there's just too many players coming in and out with the threshold at 15.
