In all reality, this thread should have been put up a month ago when Kemba was lighting the world on fire with his sixty (60!) point game, but he still is putting on a good show for those that show up to watch the Hornets, who were expected to be bad this season.
Kemba, however, had different ideas and has kept the Hornets a float in the East, where the Hornets sit in a playoff spot at 17-17.
As of December 28, 2018, Kemba is averaging career highs in points per game (25.2), assists per game (6.2), rebounds per game (4.4), and 2P% (49.6%).
For most fans, Kemba would probably be ranked in the third tier of point guards, behind Harden/Curry/Westbrook and Lillard/Wall/Paul/Kyrie, and an 88 puts him there with Lowry (89) and Oladipo (88).
Kemba, this season, has arguably better stats than both Lowry and Oladipo:
Kemba: 25.2/6.2/4.4/49.6%(2P%)/35.2%(3P%)/42.9%(FG%)/1.4(STL)
Lowry: 14.4/9.8/4.5/57.8%/32.5%/43.3%/1.4
Oladipo: 20.0/5.3/6.4/48.2%/35.1%/43.2%/1.7
For all these reasons, Kemba deserves to be an 89; he is closer in comparison to Lowry and is better than Oladipo.
