G/F - Brandon Ingram
Player Statistics:
Drafted: 2016 1st round (2nd pick) by the Charlotte Hornets (2016 Draft)
Joined: July 16th, 2017 from the Charlotte Hornets (trade thread)
2017/18 - After an unconvincing rookie year for both his real-life Lakers and D5 Hornets, Brandon Ingram joined the Celtics for a package centered around 2017 #3 pick Josh Jackson in a trade which most posters considered a loss for the Celtics but which turned out otherwise. It was a controversial trade because the move allowed Charlotte to free up just enough cap space to gain the edge in free agency negotiations and sign Paul George.
Throughout the year Ingram's player rating increased from 73 to 80, earning him some starting minutes in the late part of the year, but for most of the season Ingram shared playing time in a loaded Celtics front court with Jabari Parker, Jaylen Brown and veteran Joe Ingles, as well as Dwight Howard who started most games at power forward, and as such only started 7 of his games. With the off season departures of Howard and Ingles in free agency it is hoped Brandon will see more playing time in the 2018/19 campaign!
2018/19 - Brandon's star began to shine in his third season. Still only 21 and moved into the starting lineup Ingram played crucial minutes for the Celtics who rose to third-seed in the Eastern Conference. Brandon was the 3rd highest Celtic player with 11.5ppg and 3.1apg, and 2nd highest Celtic with 5.9rpg. In real life his play went from strength to strength for an otherwise beleaguered Lakers squad.
After All Star Break, Ingram averaged superstar numbers posting 27.8ppg, 7.5rpg and 2.5apg. It was then, just as Brandon reached his highest high, that he was struck down with an absolutely crushing diagnosis of Deep Venous Thrombosis in his left arm, a potentially life threatening disease, and benched for the remainder of the season. Brandon joins a distressingly long list of core D5 Celtics players to go down with career threatening injuries and our only hope is that surgery can return him to the level of play to which he had risen.
