the features of this league, and it is one of the most detailed sports-related leagues I've ever had the honor to participate in. It makes me glad just to know that I can be a part of this community. That's really good to hear Do you need to sign a player? It's not like there's any big names on the market mid-season. I think that would be good actually, if you guys want to make team threads, go ahead.

I'm just thinking about how nice it would be if we could sign players like Tyrone Wallace or Cedi Osman. (I know they aren't created but I hope they are.)

Having this candidacy process itself is a good idea, since it clearly has already proven that you can find out the "bad" GM's right away.
But I do find it now bit challenging to figure out what should I do to distinguish myself from rest of the good candidates. Obviously I'm trying to make some deals with couple of GM's, but if no trade deal is actually agreed, there is nothing really to show that you been doing good job. If one those GM's I have been negotiating happen to be in the hiring committee, it would of course help. But maybe I'm "unlucky" and none of those GMs I have been in contact are the ones deciding the hiring. Jazz team itself is pretty well setup so the main thing in my opinion is be patient and wait for the good opportunity to make some deals. So there is not an actual need to do much in this trial period. But doing nothing doesn't also really prove much about your GM skills.
Signing free agents could be helpful to show your GM knowledge, but I think it could get very confusing if 3 candidates are doing it at the same time. For example if another candidate would release a player to make room for their new signing, but I'm negotiating another deal where that released player is included.

Arvydas Sabonis I think my answer to that is in the original post: What are we looking for in a Jazz GM? Engagement and Activity
Someone who can show they will be an active member of Dynasty Five for a long time, to make the Jazz their own and build a great dynasty and to understand that it will be a job that will take many years! We want someone who wants to become part of the semi-roleplaying atmosphere of being a real NBA GM here at D5, who gets involved in rating players, day-to-day discussion and even posts media centre articles such as rankings, jersey switches, analytics, scouting reports or stories. I think what we (the Hiring Committee) are finding so far is that all three of you would make good GMs, probably more knowledgeable, active and responsible than many GMs we have currently at D5. This is only the second time we've used this process to select a GM, I wish we'd done it sooner, we're spoiled for choice! In my opinion we will probably not need to put you three through this process again, the next teams to open up will be yours, deciding the order in which that happens between the three of you is what's difficult. edit: just to be clear - if you're not successful, you wont be expected to hang around here until a team becomes available, and then I will email you about it.

Arvydas Sabonis Elton Brand George GervinThis process has been going for a week now and the Hiring Committee and I all seem to agree it's worth making a decision now. Elton Brand will be the new Jazz GM based primarily on his activity levels but also the fact that he tried-out for the Lakers GM job previously and that gives him some kind of first-in-line rights. Congratulations Elton Brand! Welcome to the Jazz organisation! Arvydas Sabonis and George Gervin - you guys are obviously going to make great GMs here. As soon as a new team opens up I will email only you guys. The first of you two to claim the team will be that team's new GM. Whoever isn't successful will then be automatically given the next team that becomes available after that. I don't want to lose you guys, I hope you don't forget about us in the meantime - it can take months or even a year for a team to open up.

Is spike still in the league or did he quit too? Hard to tell even if he didn't.

Disappointing, but understandable. But once there is a new team available, I'll definitely would want to change the name from Greg Ostertag to something else. That was just a name specifically chosen for Jazz.

Congrats Elton on the GM post— I couldn’t translate those icy 1 on 1 moves that gave me my iconic nickname of Iceman into the role, but the Jazz are in good hands!
Also appreciate the transparency on future roles— George Gervin will be my GM name regardless of the team, and hopefully I get a chance to showcase my GM chops
