Current Rating: 75 Suggested rating: 80
One of the best wing defenders in the entire league. Averaging 13, 5.5 and 2 while shooting an efficient 37% from 3 and extremely solid 54.4% TS.
This guy is the best 3 and D wing in the NBA this side of Klay.

there's something special about reaching 80 that I just don't think Covington reaches yet, but he's a great guy

I'm with Ian, but he is pretty damn good. I think he tops out at 80 given his passing is kinda meh and I'll give him that 80.
Changing to 81 after reading an article that saying that Covington is basically 2nd only to Paul George on defense on the wing this year.

This thread is pretty funny when compared with the Wiggins thread. Multiple GMs in D5 would trade Wiggins straight up for Robert Covington.

Also I'll go with a 78 for Covington. He's pretty terrible on offense with the exception of spot up threes. 90% of his total field goals are assisted, that might be the highest number I've ever seen. That includes 96% of his threes.
However he's a really good defender and there is a solid role for 3andD wings as we all know. At least Philly knows how to use him by making him stand out of the way on offense unless he has an open shot. Give him good athletic and defensive ratings as a focus.

Ijs, what I think I would rate a player is not necessarily what I'd use as my trade basis. Gotta understand each pieces general perceived value around the league. Even if that's not your personal value of the piece. Salaries and all sorts of other things to into a trade, of course, as well.

This thread is pretty funny when compared with the Wiggins thread. Multiple GMs in D5 would trade Wiggins straight up for Robert Covington. bullshit Lets actually examine this a bit actually. Wiggins has a career -1.3 VORP posting -.2, -.1, -.6, -.5 each year. Robert Covington on the other hand career VORP 5.2, posting 0.0, 1.1, .9, 1.8, 1.5 Now VORP isn't the perfect stat, however over several years one would expect to find the better player that contributes to winning come out ahead at least most of the time, for example the best player of 2014, Nikola Jokic is at 11.8 VORP over his career so far. Gary Harris 4.1, Elfrid Payton 4.1, Marcus Smart 4.0, Kyle Anderson 3.9, Clint Capela 3.7, Arron Gordon 3.0, Dwight Powell 2.9, Joel Embiid 2.6 and Rodney Hood 2.4 bring up the rest of the top 10 in VORP. Andrew Wiggins is sitting in 48th place. Now, I know the stat isn't perfect for example you could reorder that top 10 pretty easily. But the point is that's the top 10 and Wiggins isn't anywhere near it. Even Jabari, another player I faded in this draft is at least in the positives.
