Current Rating: 80
Suggested Rating: 85
23.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 5 apg, .8 spg, .2 bpg
44.9% FG, 41.3% 3FG 90.9% FT
Basically the exact same stats as CJ McCollum who's an 85. CJ trades a few assists for more rebounds. This is the one case where I can compare OVRs because they are actually the same position and similar roles for once.

It won't be hard to figure out who I am including in this comparison, but here are three D5 players who all play the same position and all play similar defense:
A: 24.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 4.4 apg, 0.9 spg, 0.2 bpg, 3.6 tov, 44.4% FG, 39.3% 3p
B: 23.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 5.0 apg, 0.8 spg, 0.2 bpg, 2.9 tov. 44.9% FG, 41.3% 3p
C: 21.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.0 spg, 0.4 bpg, 2.0 tov, 44.8% FG, 41.4% 3p
A has the most ppg, but shoots slightly worse efficiency. Although, all of the efficiencies are close.
A has the most combined rpg + apg (8.8) compared to B and C both with 7.6
C has a slight edge on spg and bpg, although it is all extremely close.
C also has the edge in turnovers, with A being the worst.
If I had to rank them, I would probably go A - B - C, with A scoring the most points and grabbing the most rebounds and assists. B gets the edge over C because they are almost identical except for ppg and tov, and I value points more than turnovers.
A: 85 - 86 B: 83 - 84 C: 83 - 84

He's not as far off as some would suppose but he's not been asked to because quite frankly the real life Suns are almost as bad as the D5 Suns. I would say that as of right now that Bookers 83 is fine. I feel like the folks who hedge heavily for team success will give him an 85-87 when the Suns get semi competitive.

Maybe I'm on crack because I actually think Booker is better defensively than either McCollum or Williams. He has really stepped it up this year.

If we go by advanced statistics, depending on which you use. Devin is equal or better than Lou Williams. Both are worse than CJ McCollum.
So I change my vote for Williams to 84. So Booker 83, Williams 84, McCollum 85.

Booker's defense is improving. Suns fan here. Defensive improvement is hard to accept/see right away for players who started as defensive liability but Booker is better than last season.

Is there any evidence for this? I've watched Booker this season and he routinely gets blown by in pick and rolls and I've seen several times where he's completely lost his man off the ball. It seems like he isn't even trying most of the time. His defensive stats are just as bad as last season and his rookie year as well. Onto Lou Williams. He is an excellent offensive player who doesn't play the other end. But he's been awesome the last 2 years now. 82
