I've been waiting till the New Year before posting this but DeMar has been clutch this year for the Raptors. I know many of you don't give two craps about the Raptors lol but seeing DeMar grow his game each year has been nice to see. Last night, Raptors Record - 52 points but the best part of that game was his 5/9 from 3.
Last night wasn't the only game he's been hitting 3's, he's been doing it all year. He's currently shooting 35% from 3 compared to his lovely 26% last year. Last year he shot a total of 124 threes and made only 33 of them. This year he's only shot 106 3's and already surpass last year total with 37 made 3's this year.
Another item that has impressed this year is his passing. Usually DeMar just chucks shots and misses. This season, he's passing more and being more team oriented. Last year he passed the ball 290 times, this year already at 173. Just another stat showing his improvement.
With DeMar playing with the Raptors, he clearly doesn't get the love from the US fan base for many reasons, however I feel that DeMar is definitely one of the top SG's in the NBA currently.
You may agree or disagree but this is what I'm suggesting:
Current Rating: 87 New Rating: 90

He's a top 3 SG in the NBA no doubt but 90s a little too high. 88.5 if .5's are okay

He's a top 3 SG in the NBA no doubt but 90s a little too high. 88.5 if .5's are okay You're 100% allowed to vote using a .5, or even a .16777 or whatever you want. But, at the end of the day it's all added up (minus the top and bottom rating) and averaged out. I vote using a .5 really frequently. Worth a little more than an 88 but not as much as an 89. If you think he's right in between there it's the proper vote. Just realize, if everyone did it, he'd be an 89. As for DeRozan, his 3pt needs a boost, but his passing only needs a small boost (he averaged 4, 3.5, 4, 3.9 in the 4 years before this year, sitting at 4.9. So, improvement but relatively small. Rebounds dropped by about a full rpg also, so some points will come off there if I go modify him. All told, he's at 34.5 mpg, 25p, 4.3r, 4.9a, 1.2s, 0.3b on 48.5/34.9/82.4 It's very nice but it's not a 90. 88 with some reworking feels OK to me.

This guy just keeps improving every year. Honestly I wasn't a big fan of his just 2 years ago and thought he was one of the most overrated players in the league. But he's proven me wrong and has really diversified his game. He might not be a superstar but he's firmly in star territory and is one of the best guards in the NBA.
