Bryan Colangelo, this is a minimum on a 70+. No longer legal since we're following RSFA rules now.

I think this has surfaced in the past, but I couldn't find any rules threads that said the league minimum could not be given to a 70+ player if the player agent thought it was realistic.

I tried to do this last year for Corey brewer or someone like that and I was told essentially that I couldn't. Thought it was in place to keep teams over the cap from getting 70+ players for nothing. I agree that you should be able to sign them, but I am just reiterating how I was informed.

We don't have anything regarding realism and I wouldn't be against a rule change, but I'm just surprised you're allowing this considering you told me to disallow a similar offer when I asked.

Seems like he knew it was not a valid offer. James also offered this to me as Thabo's agent in OSFA but we declined as he was paid nearly 10x as much in real life. It's a bit weird that Thabo switches agents in RSFA, but I do suppose it is a different market now so perhaps this is fair. Either way, seems like it does not matter as this offer is illegal.

Makes sense now., I was told since free agency ended I couldn't offer a minimum which is in the rules.

Andrei Kirilenko is right, I didn't see that rule when I was searching. Bryan Colangelo/ James Kay, we're going to have to cancel this after all. League minimum contracts can only be offered to players rated below 70 except during Off Season Free Agency.

I’m not home until tomorrow, but I did some research on previous signings and 70+ RFAs have consistently been allowed to sign for the minimum. I’ll post links when I get home.
In the meantime, this rule shouldn’t exist in the first place. There’s absolutely no basis for this rule in real life.

Ian Noble Previous signings of players over 70 to the minimum. This list is obviously not all of them, and there are probably even others that are not verifiable. I just looked at their ratings on the roster page and Free agent list page, and verified that they signed for the minimum of that year. 2014: Free Agent ListRostersMarvin Williams2015: Free Agents ListRostersIan MahinmiHedo TurkMbah a Moute2016: Free Agents ListRostersForced Signing (Udonis Haslem)lolJames JonesJimmer pt. 2?(pretty sure Jimmer signed for the min in 2014 as well? But I lost that link). Just not a rule that's ever been enforced consistently, and shouldn't exist in the first place. The free agency market should be enough to regulate what value of contracts 70-80 rated players are signed to. Players hovering around that 70-73 rating would absolutely sign to teams for the minimum in real life and it is an unnecessary handicap to not allow teams to fill out their bench.

James KayI think you're right. The rule was probably put in place before Player Agents took over 70+ players. I'll allow this signing to go through.
