Really we penalise injuries by taking a player out of the game not by rating them low. If you think Embiid is an 83 when he's on the court though then wtf I don't know what games you're watching! I agree, at first I didn't want to give him too high of a rating on small sample size but I realized that the only way to make Embiid realistic is to give him a crazy high rating. He does everything welll but stay healthy. If he improves his jumper and defense a little more, I can see 95 overall soon. I think the same goes with Simmons, I'm gonna have to raise him pretty high to get his rating realistic Lol they are not playing like 95s

Lol they are not playing like 95s not Simmons, I meant Embiid. Simmons gets a 83 from me but we gotta give him 95+ passing. Embiids playing like a 90+ rn The gulf from 90+ to 95 is one that is not to be traversed lightly. Embiid is incredibly talented and has all the instincts and the sneaky wingspan but his foot speed is slow and he gets beat from the outside. He makes up for it with good angles, etc, but he will never be an elite defender. He's no AD on defense and about that good on offense. His PPA on long jumpers has plummeted from 1.09 to .74 so far this year and hasn't turned around. I haven't seen much defense from Simmons at all that has impressed me except for the fact that he isn't a siv.

"he will never be an elite defender" - Billy King, 2017 Embiid was literally the number one rim protector last year lol stats.nba.com/players/defensive-impact/?CF=DEF_RIM_FGA*GE*5:GP*GE*25&Season=2016-17&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&sort=DEF_RIM_FG_PCT&dir=-1

Being 6 on the MVP ladder gets you an 87, but being number 1 only gets you a 92? Sound logic. Wat? Harden is 95? Are you talking about my rating for Giannis? harden's stats are like post world war 1 german currency -- inflated

Someone that couldn't stop a person in a wheelchair from scoring leads the MVP race. *Sigh* Come on Silver.

Becomes extremely boring to watch after a while. I think being looser on the defensive calls would help improve the game by a lot.

That's how it should work, the league creates rules, the players adapt and score the most efficiently within those rules, which is where we are at now. The league would adapt again if it was displeased with the product. Unfortunately, they are not displeased as basketball is now the most popular sport in America. This offensive theory is good for the 3/4ths of casual fans. But something tells me 30 dudes on an internet forum investing time into scouting the 2020 draft are anything but casual. Hopefully the writers who vote for the MVP look beyond stats. The problem is that there's writers with a large platform who write about things and don't mention that Milwaukee is 28th in the league in offensive possessions per game, which is hurting Giannis, in theory. In practum, it isn't since he is shooting an absurd percentage from the field. He also does more for his team than anyone but LeBron

I know this is off topic from the embiid rating but Harden deserves the MVP, Dirk has won an MVP, curry has won 2 and Westbrook won one and they don't play defense well either. Harden has deserved an MVP already. He gets buckets and there gonna win 55-60 games

I thought this meme was dead? I'm also convinced you don't watch Houston Rockets games if you're saying this. Houston has clearly come into this season with a focus on improving their defense. They were 18th last season at 109 points per 100 possessions. They're up to 8th now this season at 104.9 points per 100 possessions. That's mostly without Chris Paul too, and no Patrick Beverly. Harden as an individual has also been pretty solid defensively. I hope he gets the MVP this year, which he should have got last year.

85 for Embiid. He's good, now lets see him stay on the court and show it for a whole season.

Patiently waiting for Embiid to sneeze, trip, fall and break every bone in his body. Just to clarify: you're currently rating Otto Porter 84, but Joel Embiid 83? Porter's only elite aspect is shooting and he's a distant third-string offensive option for the Wizards behind Wall and Beal. Embiid is Top 10 in the league defensively, obviously the first-string offensive option for the Sixers. Both teams have similar W/L records. And it's because of potential injuries in the future? When, I think most members agree: ...we penalise injuries by taking a player out of the game not by rating them low. Doesn't add up.

Embiid has been talking shit on the bench most of his career. If we get halfway through the season and he's still healthy while producing these numbers, I'll happily rate him a 90+

I'm going to change my vote to an 89, Embiid is better than Towns and Jokic. Fight me.
Just like when I refused to go over 89 rating with Kevin Love, because Kevin Love never led the real-life Timberwolves to the playoffs, Embiid still hasn't brought the real-life Sixers to the playoffs so I wont go above 89.
