Nikola Jokic has decided to return to the.... Memphis Grizzlies!Quite honestly, while we entertained offers from all who came knocking, as soon as we sat down and thought about this, there wasn't much to think about at all. Nikola is coming off of his Rookie Season in D5, where he won D5 ROY, and helped the Grizzlies find their identity as a young team on the rise led by the two studs pictured above. With his age and Bird Rights and having only ever played for the Grizzlies, and only ever played with Karl Anthony Towns, we feel the fit is right, and the money is right, with the full 5 year contract available on Bird Rights. GM Jeremiah Hill has always been loyal to Nikola and been his biggest fan even as the rest of the league was still getting used to the idea of Nikola turning into the star he is destined to become. We happily return to the Memphis Grizzlies for the following contract: Year 1: $24,750,000 Year 2: $26,606,250 Year 3: $28,462,500 Year 4: $30,318,750 Year 5: $32,175,000 Total: $142,312,500

FTR, Jeremiah Hill told me repeatedly that he does not plan on using all of this cap this offseason, so he told me I could post this today. It will count against his cap starting now, even though he has BR's on Nikola.

I had a really dank meme for this but I'm too incompetent to figure out how to post a GIF. Anyway I have a lot of select words about how much I disagree with this decision, but knowing the parties involved this thread would turn into a shit-tossing festival and I don't feel like getting my hands smelly. I wish nothing but ill-will for all parties involved here.

If you're going to curse me, Jeremiah, and Nikola himself, you're also cursing 3 other GMs in the league who I'd say are pretty highly respected. Of course, you often forge your own path Josh, which is great, but it's worth mentioning this was unanimous and a slam dunk in the opinion of all involved. Even other teams I had to let down during the process all pretty much said "I expected nothing else, but I had to give it my best shot!" All except one, that is. One put up quite a stink. I think you know him quite well, actually.

I wish nothing but ill-will for all parties involved here. I know you were my biggest competition for Jokic, probably Charles 2nd as you both are obviously as much of a huge fan of him as I am, obviously I'm not sorry that he resigned with me however I felt that I made the appropriate arguments for why I feel that he fits here. We all know that the drafting team gets the benefit of the doubt and in my case this was probably true. However, I made moves in order to better compete and I feel that my team has been consistently trending upward while both those teams have had some inconsistency and that was the primary argument. I didn't use this argument in my offer but if we copied the RFA rules of real life like planned and had them extend to 2nd rounders as well like real life there was no way I don't get Jokic back, the same way Denver won't lose him. This decision is his best basketball decision in my opinion but it also passes the realism test even if our rules aren't perfectly mimicking the NBA. I've seen Charles's offers in the past, not sure about you Josh but I'm confident that both of you and every other GM in the pool had great offers and I wish you all luck in your further Free Agency endeavors.

Walt said he was likely resigning and I said that's probably the best decision for things. Guess coming off rookie contracts shouldn't leave the teams so long as the GM doesn't do something to totally screw it up or refuse to pay. If you're 24, goal should be money. 28 - Fame/Superstar/Legacy, 32 - rings if they don't have one, loyalty if it has been reciprocated. I don't think these decisions are as hard as they are made out to be. Obviously some are a lot harder than others, but all of the ones announced so far are good, besides one, and that's an issue for a different time.

I'm not trying to say these decisions were easy, but they are likely easier than deciding between two teams for Ross or another mid-level guy who isn't Bird Righted. Or a guy like PG or Durant with real life patterns and things to think about.

Not that I disagree but you cannot generalize it or make a pattern on how the players thinks/acts.
