1. This year's FA list has a lot of players that aren't in the NBA anymore that are on the list because they are young and may be playing somewhere else. Don't make the mistake of signing these guys. The second someone signs them they will have a rating decrease thread put in on them making them useless.
2. Sign the player, not the OVR rating. If you sign some guy because he's a 78-79 and his real life stats suck, they'll be decreased, that's part of the game, in fact due to current time constraints on the ratings committee the rating might already be in process to decrease.
3. Use sites such as Basketball Reference or ESPN to look up stats on players before you sign them.
4. Use sites like hoopshype or just search in google for NBA team salaries, see if the player you are going to sign will be on the same team in real life next season. This could affect their stats for the next season onward. Typically good players are just good, but role does play a part in player success, for example Harrison Barnes was destined to be a 75 OVR until he got dropped onto the Mavs and was able to show what he's able to do.
5. Spend wisely, throwing massive money at some average player is a highway to mediocre town.
Good Luck this offseason guys!
