Whoa, down year but still excellent and still trying to figure it out. 87 Worst statistical season since his rookie year Understand your thinking, so I get your rating. I just personally think he is still trying to figure out how to be the second option.

The Spurs do Spurs-y things. I think Aldridge is kind of on that aging Tim Duncan plan. He had the lowest usage of the last 7 years this season, so basically since he first became a star. Especially with Pau next to him in the post and Kawhi becoming a legit top 5 NBA player, Aldirdge is just casually doing his thing.
His advanced stats number were down too though, it was beyond just decreased usage, so I don't know. I'll go 88. I expect he'll be back up to his standard next year, and if not, then a bigger decrease should come.

82, he really left the Spurs down in the playoffs. What lol? There is so much recency bias in this rating, and some other in this thread imo. Even if we just look at this season, Aldridge still did this: 17.3 points, 7.3 reabounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 blocks, 0.6 steals in 32.4 minutes on 48% shooting and 41% from three. That's just an 82 for you? That's pretty crazy. Then you also consider that this might have been the worst season of his career and it's especially crazy. There seem to be some real issues between LMA and the Spurs, which isn't a good sign because the Spurs are the model NBA franchise that basically does everything right. Even with that, I think some of you are overreacting and we'll end up with a James Harden situation where as soon as his rating decrease went through, a rating increase was needed for him.

James Harden never looked physically outmatched the way Aldridge did against Clint Caplea, Ryan Anderson, Draymond Green, Zaza etc. Besides, Joel Embiid is averaging 20 and 7 and is an 81...that's not that far off.

That's such a telling, and misleading, comparison right there. You think if Embiid played the whole season he wouldn't have been given a rating boost into the high 80s? I'm 100% sure of it. Here are some more comparisons: ?? LaMarcus Aldridge - 17.3ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.9apg, 1.2bpg, 0.6spg, 48 FG%, 41 3P%, 81 FT% 87 Paul Millsap - 18.1ppg, 7.7rpg, 3.7apg, 0.9bpg, 1.3spg, 44 FG%, 31 3P%, 77 FT% 86 Al Horford - 14.0ppg, 6.8rpg, 5.0apg, 1.3bpg, 0.8spg, 47 FG%, 36 3P%, 80 FT% 85 Serge Ibaka - 14.8ppg, 6.8rpg, 0.9apg, 1.6bpg, 0.5spg, 48 FG%, 39 3P%, 86 FT% 84 Kristaps Porzingis - 18.1ppg, 7.2rpg, 1.5apg, 2.0bpg, 0.7spg, 45 FG%, 36 3P%, 79 FT% 82 Ryan Anderson - 13.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 0.9apg, 0.2bpg, 0.4spg, 42 FG%, 40 3P%, 86 FT% So what's the better comparison for LMA? Looks like him and Millsap perform on basically the same level, and he's an 87. Plus this was one of the worst season's of his career and we know he's more talented than what he showed this year. Plus he did it for a 60+ win team. I can understand the 85 and 86 votes in this thread, but low 80s for LMA, even with this down season, is just not giving an objective look at how he played in any way.

LMA is getting the same rating I gave love. They both are good offensively but leave a lot to be desired on D. LMA's strength is his mid range game which is a prehistoric aspect of basketball

Plus, Aldridge just stunk it up in the playoffs in an epic manner; I think he should be rated between an 82-85 and could be convinced to move him back up to an 85 with a good regular season and better playoffs next year.
