Also, you can't say Hilary wouldn't have been worse, we have no idea what she would have done. We would probably have already nuked Iran and North Korea if she were in office. How much of this is joking around and how is honest? We know exactly what Hillary would have been like in office. It would basically be Obama's 3rd (and 4th?) terms in office. The democratic establishment is basically the same no matter who it is. The corruption and elitism of the democrats would just become even more entrenched, but the direction of the country wouldn't have changed one bit. Not that more corrupt democrats running the US would be a good thing, but relatively speaking, it's way better than the potentially treasonous shit show Trump is running. Clinton can almost be considered more conservative than liberal. I don't think it would be the same as Obama's administration at all, no way. Could she handle shooting Js with Pippen? I always find it interesting how all foreigners love to explain to America what is wrong with it and how it should be ran. This is probably the sole reason America strays away from policies that are similar to foreign countries. You have to understand, America is a like the teenage kid, you can't tell us what to do, you have to make us think it's our idea.

Most Americans don't waste a second thought on other countries. American exceptionalism is the backbone of the USA's self-identity. So I'm not sold you're all just rebelling from international ideals, because you guys don't give a single fuck about international ideals. You guys are just doing your own thing, and that happens to be quite different and more right wing compared to rest of the developed world. I also think I'm more informed about American politics than the majority of Americans. I'm a pretty political person and US political news is almost put on the same level as Canadian political news up here. Canada is the USA's immediate neighbour, but you're ten times our size. We are bombarded with American news and culture every day, and our culture's are nearly the same anyway. Plus we get all your tv channels too. I was watching CNN during the primaries and I was watching the election when Trump won. So it's the easiest thing in the world for a Canadian to keep up with US politics if they want to.

The biggest problem in American politics is that there's no trustworthy sources anymore. CNN and the papers like the Washington post used to be mostly unbiased, providing a look at each side but they've completely changed since Trump. They're pretty much just fox news for liberals now and they don't even try to hide their bias. For instance when CNN does those stupid panels it's like 8 Obama/Clinton people and 1 establishment Republican and then one Trump supporter, its ridiculous how blatant their bias is. They never discuss real issues either, it's always sensationalist, culture war bullshit, like abortion or guns or bathroom bill etc. I don't remember the last time I saw the news go into depth about a law and its effects on people.
There's nowhere to go to find a balanced look, you're forced to find 5 or 6 different sources and compare what they're saying and try and sift through the spin, but most people don't have time for that so they either blindly listen to their chosen garbage source or ignore it completely. Even going through these steps, there are still some issues where I have no idea what's actually going on.
Even if Trump didn't run this still would've been a huge problem. I'm not sure there's a solution for this. The media has gotten so bad and irritating I almost voted for Trump out of spite (didn't, went for Gary Johnson) even though I don't agree with any of his polices.
There's a huge culture war going on and liberals are losing. Hard. As someone mostly on the side of liberal side of things I hope this changes but as long as the media is so obviously on the Democrats side, they have no chance. It's sad but if I was a betting man I'd put money on a 2nd term for Trump.

If you're so informed with American politics you'd know that Hillary would've been worse than Obama in literally every single facet. I can't even come up with a single issue where she would be better. America was too liberal for her in 2008, she was a selfish bitch to try again in 2016.

There's a huge culture war going on and liberals are losing. Hard. But are they? Trump lost the popular vote, let's not forget that. Bernie Sanders had support that was just as passionate as Trump and he likely would have won the primaries without the DNC manipulating everything. Then in the general, Bernie vs Trump is a landslide victory for Bernie. I think Hillary was the only candidate Trump could ever beat.

Maybe it's because I live in such a liberal area but they way dems are reacting to Trump seems counter productive to me. The only way I can see Trump losing is if you ignore his rehetoric and scandals and stuff and just focus on why his policies are bad. Explain why people are better with a looser border or explain why free trade is good, go into real solutions from the prison system, not temporary bullshit fixes like reducing mandatory minimums, talk about solutions to crime ridden areas that isn't just buzzword "community policing" . Maybe Bernie would've done this, he and Trump were the most policy focused candidates, but dems cant help but take the bait and call him racist, sexist, a Russian stooge, a bad businessman. Those attacks don't work on Trump and only swell his support from people who see how ridiculous it is and discourage people on the fence like me from voting for them. The Democrats didn't just lose the presidency, they got wiped out in the states, wiped out in the house (gop won the popular vote so no Democrats it's not because of gerrymandering) and lost substantial ground in the Senate. The party is in real trouble and I'm skeptical they even recognize there is a problem let alone want to find a solution. And don't even get me started on Nancy Pelosi's corrupt ass and the garbage leaders in the dnc.

People who are willing to kill people for free food and 14k a year are trash. I don't even care how unpopular of a statement that is. People who join the military are deluded at best and trash at worst.

People who join the military are deluded at best and trash at worst. I hope this is a joke. I would say 95% of the military never wants to go to war or kill anyone. Why do you think so many veterans have ptsd etc, it's not because they wanted to kill people. Sometimes people are left with no choice and joining the military is a "way out". This is an example of a terrible person in a position of power so to speak. You can't generalize and group the entire military force as one. I guess all of the people in S. Korea are trash, the Seals that killed Osama are trash, etc. The fact is, a lot of the service people aren't even protecting the US, but other nations.
If you truly believe anyone that joins the forces is trash, you should be ashamed. They are doing stuff me and you could never do or wouldn't have the courage to do so. I may not like the military in terms of spending and financials etc, but I will stick up for those in the service because they deserve respect.

95% of them are deluded. If you think killing people for corporate profits is an okay thing you need to think again. I'm guessing most troops have been lied to about "defending freedom" and other bullshit. They aren't doing anything I couldn't or wouldn't do. If we were in a war worth fighting or someone invaded I'd sign up immediately. I won't go to the middle East and kill people for halliburton contracts and anyone who knowingly did so should be ashamed.

You literally think everyone the joins the military wants to kill people? Come on man. Also, last time I checked America wasn't the only country with a military. I guess every British, German, Spanish, Turkish etc person who joins their countries military is a terrible person too? Let me ask you, if you were poor, were on the brink of living on the streets, and had nothing else, would you rather join the military and make 25-30k a year at low rank or go on with your other future life track?

It has to do with giving up your ability to be a moral agent. The fact is if president Trump decides we need to go to some country and kill a bunch of people that don't need killed it's the soldiers job to do it. They don't have a say in it. Sure, you can get ordered to kill someone that needs killed, or fight in a war that needs fighting, but you can also get ordered to do evil shit. Soldiers have PTSD cause they went to a country they shouldn't have and killed people they shouldn't have. If you're willing to swear an oath to kill people just because a politician tells you to, and you're doing it for 14k which could be had at any minimum wage job you got some serious issues. Or, as I've said, they are probably deluded. Fucking nationalism and putting soldiers on pedestals keeps training kids to think there is glory in war and killing.

Like how does that even make sense dude? John Kerry and McCain is now a great person because he killed a bunch of people that just wanted to govern themselves? Fuck that. We haven't fought a justifiable war in generations.
If China or North Korea nukes one of our things and tries to kill us, then you sign up. If you're signing up just to fight in whatever war the military industrial complex decides to finance next you're just a pawn.
If you're doing it because you've been lied to that the military does mostly good things then you're deluded. If you're doing it for the money you should be ashamed. I'd rather be homeless than kill people for money.

How many people joined the military bc ISIS is killing people overseas? Everyone has their reason to join the military, but I highly doubt the majority of people join thinking, "hey, I will get to kill a lot of people".

No but they aren't even making the choice of who they will kill. They just follow someone else's orders. There's a chance (very good one based on recent history) all the people you're gonna kill shouldn't be killed.

Like let's remove this from the cloudy haze you all have of worshipping people in the military. Let's do a thought experiment.
Say you have a button. You can press the button, Everytime you press it you make $14,000. But Everytime you do that there's a 1% chance an innocent Arab dies because of you pressing the button. Do you do it!?
Hell no. It's evil.
If you join the military and aren't accounting for the fact that you may have to invade some country that doesn't need invaded and kill people that are just defending their country from us then you havent thought it through.
How small of a % chance of you killing an innocent does it have to be for you to decide 14k is worth it? To me, anything about 0 makes you deluded at best.

I don't worship people in the military at all, but I will not call the people who protect our country or other countries military personnel trash. You are not accounting for all the people who join the military to help them go to college, to build a life for their family, to learn and create a better world. You are accounting for 5-10% and generalizing. As liberals love to do - minority rules.

As I said, how many people in the military face this problem/situation? Like 20% at most. I would be that 80% of the military is non combat related -- this is my point. So please stop generalizing. My dad was in the Vietnam war as an engineer, guess he is still trash bc he was essentially a mechanic.

I'm sure your dad thought he was doing the right thing // got drafted. It's the people that realize they might kill Innocents and don't care that are trash.

I can't imagine a benefit you could give me that would have me give up my right to say "no" to killing innocent people. Since you love hypotheticals. What would you do? Kill one innocent person knowing it would save 500 innocent lives or just let them all die by their current situation? I'd kill the one person. Duh. I'm not deontological. The problem is we aren't killing 1 innocent to save 500 and that's the bullshit that they tell people to get them to kill Innocents. It's basically the other way around. Over a million Iraqis died that were defending their country from an invading force. I wonder how many Innocents were saved? I wonder whether the free college was worth it to all the PTSD soldiers who didn't think that shit through before they signed up.

I don't agree with any of the wars/confrontations going on that America has been involved in lately. However, I won't lose sleep at night if that fat bastard in N. Korea is assassinated.

I agree as well. They need to do a coup and then reunite Korea. The only people that don't want a United Korea is China, Russia and the Kim family.
