Currently: 78 Proposed: 83 We all know about Kanter's defensive drawbacks but his Offense and Rebounding are unquestionably elite when compared to any other big man in the league. Should have been 6th Man of the Year. Stats12.7ppg and 8.1rpg in only 21 minutes per game on 58% shooting. 20.5ppg and 14.8rpg when actually logging more than 30 minutes!!! League LeadersScoring Ranked 4th in the League in Offensive Rating (122.7) Ranked 27th in the League in Points per 36 mins (21.7)
Rebounding Ranked 1st in the League in Offensive Rebounding % (16.7) Ranked 4th in the League in Rebounds per 36 mins (13.9) Ranked 4th in the League in Total Rebounding % (21.0)
Shooting Percentage Ranked 4th in FG% (57.6%) behind DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside. Ranked 6th in True Shooting % (62.6%) Ranked 7th in Effective FG% (58.3%) Ranked 10th in Player Efficiency Rating. Ranked 19th in Defensive Rebounding % I get that Kanter's not a flashy super-entertaining player, he gets the job done and doesn't mess about, and I watch a lot of his games and see his defensive drawbacks, but he really needs a boost for being in that elite group of offensive and rebounding big men in the league. It's a pity he's not playing over 30 minutes per game and really contributing those mindblowing stats every night.

So he should have the same rating as Whiteside even though he is worse than him in (almost) every category? And completely nonexistent on the other end of the floor? Nah.

Nah. 80 Whiteside is a weird basis for comparison for any player in the NBA. He's an anomaly. Using him as a frame for comparison is intentionally misleading really. Compare Kanter (78) to his old teammate Derrick Favors (82) for instance (per 36 mins): Kanter | | Favors | 21.7 | Pts | 18.4 | 57.6 | FG% | 51.5 | 13.9 | Reb | 9.1 | 0.7 | Ast | 1.7 | 0.7 | Blk | 1.7 | 24.0 | PER | 21.6 |
Kanter is better at everything except for assists and blocks but he's playing for a vastly superior team, sharing the ball with other guys like Durant and Westbrook who are extreme volume shooters, and sharing the boards with Ibaka and Adams, and yet he's still posting elite numbers. I don't think Favors should be rated higher and I'm a fan of Favors game.

Can't always use per36 because Kanter is usually going up against benches.
That being said, he is really really good at offense. Better than Whiteside. There's also more points to go around for offensive stats. Soo... I'm gonna go 82.

81. He's a defensive liability. There is a reason they start Steven Adams. I agree he shouldn't be rated equal to, or above, Whiteside and Favors.

Per 36 is incredibly misleading, I wish people would stop using it and just list the MPG averages and just let us use our brains.

He reminds me a lot of Pekovic, in that he is incredibly skilled offensively. Pek was good on offense, his drawback was always injuries and defense.
Ill go with an 80. I think he is good and good on offense. And, for a big man, that can be represented easily with an 80 overall.
I feel that going with something in the mid 80's would have us overrating his defense, and we definitely do not want that.

Kanter leads the league these playoffs with a PER of 35.9 and some of you guys are giving him a 79?

Kanter leads the league these playoffs with a PER of 35.9 and some of you guys are giving him a 79? In 100 minutes? Versus Dallas' bench? You picked a good time to post his playoff PER though, it's about to drop drastically this week.

In the "pick one player a night" fantasy game, Kanter is my man tonight.

Compared to Ibaka and Adams: Enes Kanter - 21.0 mins - 12.7ppg - 8.1rpg - 0.4bpg - 52%FG Serge Ibaka - 32.1 mins - 12.6ppg - 6.8rpg - 1.9bpg - 48%FG Steven Adams - 23.2mins - 8.0ppg - 6.rpg - 1.1bpg - 61%FG
^ Kanter averages more points and rebounds than those two despite logging fewer minutes.
Plus Kanter's doing pretty well against the Spurs this series. He was only given 18 minutes the first 3 games but played 29mins the last two games averaging 9.5ppg / 10.5rpg in those two games. He even had 3 blocks last game!
