I guess it makes sense to a degree, but someone being shut down for reasons involving team decisions, it doesn't make sense. That's true - does this apply to a player you're thinking about? I don't know any players shut down for this reason, but we did also shut down Melo last year when the Knicks did the same.

Mostly there are talks of Pelican players being shut down since their season has been abysmal. Players like Evans, Davis, etc are being considered for shutting down.

However, the Pelicans have picked their play up so this might not be a factor anymore.

Lol I haven't heard any of that. No way any of their players get shut down without injury or without Demps getting fired first.

How is this working now?
Are we waiting 15 games or whatever it is for them to miss, and then we add them and they miss the equal amount of time as they did in real life?
I asked because Beal missed 15 IRL, but was never really officially ruled out for any period of time.
This is where we have the problems regarding injuries. It goes smoothly when a team comes out and says so and so is out 6 weeks. But, and I'll use Blake's quad for an example, when a team like the Clippers says that Blake is out for at least 2 weeks with a partially torn quad, and then he misses a whole month with that injury alone, we run in to problems.
The NBA does not need to have an injury list like the NFL or a disabled list like MLB. The NBA kind of does whatever it wants in regards to injuries and it causes problems in here.
Beyond the NBA not releasing injury information, they also shut guys down, as Kevin mentioned. And this was mentioned last year, what are we doing when a player pulls a hamstring with 4 weeks left in the season and the team is way out of the playoffs and they shut him down?
I get that we are trying to do the best we can in here, and it looks like we are, but I was just looking for some clarity on these issues as I know we had these questions last year and I missed all the off-season memo's and was just now looking at the injury list for the first time this season.

I like the way we handle shutdowns. It makes the game more complex, and in a good way. It makes team situation more important in the value of a player, and thus rewards the keen and discerning eye.

I like the way we handle shutdowns. It makes the game more complex, and in a good way. It makes team situation more important in the value of a player, and thus rewards the keen and discerning eye. From the Player Injury Guidelines: After there are six weeks left at the end of the regular season injuries listed as "Out for Season" will be checked for their severity, and if in doubt ignored, because "Out for season" will not necessarily mean an injury is severe enough to warrant being added to the injury list at this time. Players injured during the Playoffs will also have the severity of their injuries checked and if the recovery time of a player's injury would usually require them to miss 6 weeks of play they will be added to the injury list. When a player's real-life team is eliminated from competition and they opt for an end of season surgery they will not be added to the injury list at D5 unless, when the next season rolls around, they are still injured from the surgery.

Nikola Mirotic underwent a "hematoma removal" procedure over the weekend and the Bulls have not released a timetable for his return.
He also had an appendectomy last Wednesday and was originally targeting the All-Star break, but now the Bulls will have to reassess his timetable. To be clear, he's likely looking at additional time on the shelf. Mirotic will be released from the hospital in a few days to begin his rehab, and the Bulls should have an update on his status at practice on Wednesday. Taj Gibson is locked in as the starting power forward, while Bobby Portis could continue to see around 20 minutes off the bench. Feb 2 - 8:13 PM

Hey Ian Noble, can you check this one. C.J. Watson he only played 8 games, 2 in October and 6 in November and his status is Out so I let you decide if he'll be injured in our league or not. Thanks. ^^
